Hello everyone. What an exciting Final we've had so far. The series is tied 1-1.

The 3rd Game of the Finals is

Japanese Battleship

In Japanese Battleship the player who sinks the other players' 3 battleships first wins.

The game is played on a shared board 5x5.

C1 C2 C3 C4 C5
B1 B2 B3 B4 B5
A1 A2 A3 A4 A5

Each player has 3 ships which each take up 1 space on the board. However, it takes a varying number of hits to sink each one.

Suwo - 2 hits
Iwami - 3 hits
Yamato - 4 hits

A player will take his turn by announcing in the thread "C2"
The other player can respond in one of four ways.

1. If the shot hits a ship, reply "HIT"
1a. If the shot sinks the ship, reply "You sunk my battleship" (doesn't not specify which ship)
2. If the shot misses one space to the north, east, south, or west, reply "NEAR MISS"
3. If the shot misses more than one space away, reply "YOU SUCK" or whatever other insults you can think of

diagonals do not count.

After every two moves, each player is allowed to move one of their ships 1 space north, east, south or west. This will be PM'd to me and I will keep track.

Remember you will be sharing the same board. Opposing players' ships can occupy the same space, same players' ships cannot.

Can you clarify this? Does this mean I could have a ship at A1, and so could squiggs? But I personally could not have multiple ships at A1?

I will not use the invalidation. I think we all know when it will be used.

This game makes it tough. I regular battleship I can stack my boats or hang them off the side.

Haha - I remember somebody hung their aircraft carrier off the edge when I was like 12 years old. So pissed! I did not see the humor in it at all.

Moving ships:

1) Do you have to move one of your ships every two moves? Or can you just leave them as is?

2) The ordering of "moves" would be: Mrk fires, squiggs fires, mrk fires, squiggs fires, mrk/squiggs both move one ship - this would repeat until the game is over.

Other:

3) Do you have to announce that the ship is sunk? Say my Iwami is hit three times - do I announce Hit and Sunk?

Alright - the thing that messed me up when I was setting my line-up is (e) is the north most row and (a) is the south most row - just making sure we have the same grids set up.

I just went by the chart she gave us, and picked three spots for my boats. As long as we aren't going diagonally, I don't think it matters which cardinal direction is which.
