30+ years is a decent start but unless it's the Flames winning it then I want the Canadian team cup drought to last forever until the end of time.

Drought schmought.

The worst case scenario in any given year is the Leafs or Oilers winning. Especially Oilers.

If it's not us breaking the drought, I'm fine with the Jets Sens or Habs breaking it. That's it, that's the list.

It wouldn't bother me if it went another 30 years without a Canadian team winning the Cup other than the Flames as the NHL has nothing to do with countries.

But as long as the Oilers don't win I can live with another team winning. Even the Leafs and Canucks even though ideally they don't win either.

I hate the Oilers so much that I've become okay with the Leafs winning. I'm okay with the Canucks winning but I'd rather not. There is something about them having never won a cup that appeals to me but, if it means that Edmonton doesn't win then I'd be find with the Canucks winning.

It just better be Calgary to break the Canadian Stanley Cup drought.

Yeah, the Canucks are way more likeable than they were when they won the President's Trophy. I had as much hatred for them back then than I do with the Oilers now.

The Leafs I really only dislike because of their media attention. But if I had to choose between them winning a Cup or the Oilers I'll always pick the Leafs.

Because my dad is a Bruins fan I grew up with Montreal winning being a sin but if they did win I wouldn't care.

Ottawa and Winnipeg I'm indifferent although I know alot of cocky Jets fans so it would be kind of annoying listening to them if they did.

No: Oilers, Canucks

Prefer not: Leafs, Habs, Jets

Meh: Senators

Yes: Flames

It's really simple.

"For Canada" is for casuals who don't really have any stake in anything. Because if a Canadian team wins it, they're winning it for themselves and their city. Not for the province, not for the country. They don't give af about bandwagoners from other cities. You won't be a part of the celebrations. That's how it works in this league.

Back then I used to openly hate them more than the Oilers. They were so unlikable, top to bottom. So many gutless dirty players. It was a short rise to the top due to personnel.

You were so close to my feelings here. I cannot abide the canuckleheads winning though. I don't find the Leafs as odious and I like Brad and Tanev and Gio although he is gone.

Wow that is really tough and is really unfortunate. Obviously his mind must be on being there for his family but also on his team. That's going to be really emotionally difficult to deal with

Jets look incredible at home but #### in the road. Goalie issues have been a concern for them. Dallas has already beat a better team than the Oilers, will be two should they meet. If it wasnt the Oilers but just some rando team I dont think they would be getting all these rave reviews.
That's what happened last year though. Two years in a row Dallas finishes ahead, yet the Oilers get Glass Joe and Von Kaiser, while Dallas has to go through Macho Man and Mike Tyson. Wild card system is god awful.

Yeah, that's brutal. But pro athletes have to be a lot stronger mentally than average dolts like me. Brett Farve played a great game on Monday Night when his father passed less than 24 hours before the game. Sometimes it can inspire a player to find a new level as a means of dedication.

I appreciate the awesome reference I just don't think last year is relevant...Dallas is a different team and the Jets well, IDK. They are pretty great when Helly isn't sucking. (that is a legit fear)

Jake seems to be back to playoffs vs. the Flames levels

These can be the types of situations that really change a team and put them on a path to winning. It gives them an extra special reason to play hard now.

Benn: 3 pts in 12 games
Marchment: 3 points in 12 games
Robertson: 1 point in 5 games

Even Granlund got a hat trick but he has 4 points in the other 11 games. Johnston has 8 points in 12 games but he is a -13 (!)

To me it kind of feels like the Stars haven't figured out their forward lines post the trade deadline and with everyone healthy now.

Granlund - Hintz - Rantanen
Benn - Duchene - Seguin
Robertson - Johnston - Blackwell
Marchment - Steel - Dadonov
Bourque

Those lines feel kind of random to me. Lots of talent there...but feels like they aren't sure how to deploy it.

Personally I'd be going.

Robertson - Hintz - Rantanen: Robertson and Hintz are 55.4% xGF together the last two seasons and have great chemistry. Adding Rantanen gives them a great top line.
Marchment - Duchene - Seguin: 57.6% xGF in their time together this season and had good chemistry.
Benn - Johnston - Granlund: Benn and Johnston have good chemistry together, and 53.25% xGF together the last two seasons.
Steel - Bourque - Dadonov: Should be an okay 4th line, Blackwell could fit in here too.
I see your point, but there's also just so much talent there that you're not going to get a ton of points from everyone.
Unless they're scoring 6 goals per game, there's only so many points to go around.
As long as someone from that group steps up whenever others step down, then the depth does it's trick.
