Seravalli doesn't like Sutter and takes every opportunity to slam him to the point of exaggeration. Even the guys on Barn Burner have questioned some of things he says, then he would usually back down a little bit. Not saying he doesn't get inside info or that he isn't knowledgeable, but he has a bias against Sutter. Same thing goes with Francis, and I actually like Francis more than most people around here. But he would take every opportunity to pounce on anything negative about Sutter. Selim as well.

It's Sutter's fault though. He is pretty aggressive to some members of the media, so I can see why they like to pile on. It was the opposite with Treliving who despite many mistakes, was always kind and courteous to the media, and in return, they kept criticism low.

He is genuinely a good guy!

I thought I had read that Sutter was the only staff member under contract at the end of the year. We know Conroy and Maloney were not - they got re-hired. So I don't think any more firings are needed. Just picking out of new staff by whoever is GM.

Given how bad the Flames were at 3 on 3 this year, if they weren't practising it this would only add to the inexplicable decisions Sutter made this year. Hard to believe, if true.

That’s the thing, for all the vitriol we spewed at our style of play this year, if we went just .500 in overtime/SO this year we’d have made playoffs. And Sutter would have survived the offseason.

But Overtime was really where Sutter’s malfeasance shone this year.

The personnel decisions. The style of play. The incoordination.

Just baffling that for a team whose style seems to play one goal games and try to seal the extra point for overtime, they would look completely lost when the extra frame started.

It wasn't Edwards that wanted to keep Sutter, but Treliving. Treliving threatened to quit if Daryl was fired, so he was shown the door.

Can't imagine it took 17 days to come to this conclusion.

Makes me think they took 10 days to look at Conroy and Pascal, made a decision, and then got the choice's opinion on Sutter. When they agreed with Maloney on Sutter going, they fire the old coach so the new GM doesn't have that hanging over them as the first piece of business.
