I also enjoyed seeing what others faced when everything started. There was obviously a group that hid out at the golf clubhouse. They were there long enough to exhaust their supplies, and have some in-fighting (as see with the "rich bitch" sign.) In the end, the last survivors obviously hung themselves; probably unaware they would also turn upon their deaths.

According to the information presented in the behind the scenes segment of the Talking Dead they were hung in a class struggle.

I initially interpreted it as suicide too.

So country club members and the kitchen/maintenance staff were stuck in the same room... the club members probably assumed that they would get special treatment.

Hah, survival of the fittest! That is actually pretty cool, I also enjoyed the background on Daryl as well.

Not sure why people are so surprised about this, the show has never moved fast. Honestly one show is worth about 5-6 comics worth of content.. that's pretty good for 40 minutes of footage.

That is interesting. Maybe we see more of that as a webisode between seasons. I could see things starting out one way; in the initial emergency the club members would still have been given special treatment. At that point they were still the paying customers. As days stretched into weeks, everything would have shifted.

Or just always make sure you PVR The Talking Dead as well. Some great insight, usually great guests and Chris Hardwick is hilarious.

I know a lot of people like the Talking Dead for the extra insight, but I've never been able to bring myself to stay on for it, because it's a huge reminder that I'm just watching what's essentially a televised play. even in the middle of the show when Hardwick's dumb face comes on and says join us after the show, I hate that cause I'm immediately taken out of the setting and the mood.

yes I know it's just a TV show, not a real live documentary but every little bit to keep my imagination going counts. I can only cringe at how terrible my childhood would have been if after every episode of Star Trek TNG they sat down with Patrick Stewart sporting a goatee for some Shakespearean thing he was doing in the offseason, talking about how much he loves driving sports cars in contrast to old stuffy Picard.

I didn't understand the whole risking your life to get a drink thing. The stuff left behind in the golf course was super cool though. Seems like quite a bit of thought went into that. Actually, probably way more into the whole Beth wanting a drink story heh. Can someone explain that to me? I had trouble getting into the storyline because I just didn't understand it. I know it was to symbolize...something. I just wasn't sure what though.

Darryl looked so at home drinking moonshine and sitting in that redneck love seat though lol.

they have commercials during live televised events and that doesn't make the event itself any less real. but watching characters in the show all grizzled up for their roles and then seeing them again immediately in a dress shirt and pants, different hair, different accent, etc. just totally breaks the illusion, and I end up thinking about that real life version of them instead of their character.

the same thing would happen if they did that to Game of Thrones. imagine you've just spent the past hour watching Joffrey be cruel and horrible and you're so worked up and hate him and want him to get skewered...then 5 seconds later he's in his street clothes and super nice and polite and timid, and then you're like oh...well now I don't know what to feel about this guy.

if you're able to completely separate the two in your mind and it doesn't bug you at all, then I'm just jealous because I can't seem to do it.

She's turning into a woman and has feelings and urges, and only alcohol will help lubricate her inhibitions.

I know if I were Daryl, I would've been looking forward to getting lucky with a cute drunk blonde, zombie apocalypse or no zombie apocalypse.

Beth is only like 16-18 and was pretty proper before things went bad, it's probably just some regular teenage acting out. Possibly a coping mechanism for dealing with her father's death, and not knowing if Maggie is alive.

Yeah I sorta figured it had to do with Beth growing up and whatnot, but having to battle through zombies in a confined space for a drink? I don't think it's worth it for allegorical purposes. Should have just hit the hill billy house for moonshine on the outset and avoid all that jazz lol.

I took it as Beth's form of rebellion - her daddy wouldn't let her drink, and now that she was an adult and looking after herself, she wanted a drink. Kind of like how we go out and get blitzed on our 18th birthday. In a world gone crazy, that seemed to be her lifeline to normalcy. Prove a point; I'm a big girl now. I can take care of myself; I can drink like an adult.

That's how I saw it.

I was looking at it as a teenager sort of bucket list. She's young and hasn't been able to do teen - adult things before the world went to crap. Didn't get to be a teenager, etc.

I was a little worried her next move was to hit on Daryl though. Even looked that way for a bit.
