I've used a lot of calendar apps, but aCalendar is by far the best imo

aCalendar is the best I've used. There's a free and paid version, I've gotten by with the free one for a long time

I'll throw my vote in on aCalendar as well. Works well and I like the widget layout.

I've used a bunch, and finally settled on DigiCal. There's both a free and paid version...

Duolingo has finally come to Android.

Quote:
Learn Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Italian, and English. Totally fun. Totally free.
"Among apps for learning or practicing a language, you can't beat Duolingo." —PC Magazine. Awarded Editors' Choice for Language Learning
"Far and away the best free language-learning app." —The Wall Street Journal
"We’ve also tried a few other methods such as book learning and Rosetta Stone, both of which bombed. That’s why I jumped at the chance to try Duolingo. And believe me, it’s addictive." —FluentIn3Months.com
Duolingo is changing the way people learn languages.
• It's free, for real. No fees, no ads, no gimmicks. A college-quality education without the price tag.
• It's fun. Lose hearts for answering incorrectly, advance by completing bite-sized lessons, and track your progress with shiny achievements.
• It's constantly improving. We bust out the lab coats regularly and measure how well you learn on Duolingo. Your learning experience only gets better over time.
If you want to learn Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Italian, or English, the fast, fun, and free way, there's no better choice than Duolingo.
It's pretty great.

Looks like an Android answer to GarageBand, one of the few Apple apps I hadn't been able to find a good/affordable Android substitute for.

Edit: or maybe not - doesn't look like there's any mention of recording external instruments or vocals.

Can't get Duolingo to install. I can't even find it in the app store on my phone. Found it using the link above, logged in, clicked install (twice now) and still not installed on my phone.

There is rumors this will be coming in a update as well as being able to sample and load your own sounds. Pretty basic but a good start. I really hope they end up porting Reaper DAW to Android. Supreme MPA is a good virtual MPC.

Is there something similar to AirDroid but not reliant on wireless? I like the functionality of it, but my office wireless sucks and I've usually got my phone plugged into whatever computer I'm sitting in front of.

Samsung makes something called the Sidesync that got me all excited until I realized you need a Samsung PC as well:

http://www.intomobile.com/2013/05/13...ync-explained/

So other than finding out Samsung still makes PC's I really haven't learned much today...

not sure if this is on here, but Simpsons Tapped Out?

https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...Bzb25zNF9uYSJd

Basically, you rebuild the town of Springfield by making characters do timed jobs for money and experience. More money and experience unlock new characters and buildings. It's one of those free premium games where you can theoretically spend no money on it, but the game can be easier or you can unlock bonus features by using real money.
You can also connect with friends on it so if anyone on CP has it, I can add you guys as a friend

It's fun for the first bit, but once you get to the point to where you can only do a few different things per day unless you spend money on items it gets boring fast

There's a new version of Gmail, and it's pretty spiffy. They're rolling it out gradually so you might not be able to get it from Google Play yet, but you can download it here:

I received it on both my android devices yesterday.

I haven't played with it too much, but they are regressing a bit - I needed to go into options to get a delete icon again. Plus I haven't found how to do a multiple select anymore.

So, at least for how I use it, it seems like one step forward, two steps back.

Edit: OK, you can do a multiple select by simply highlighting the email. It is a toggle and you can toggle as many as you want to select. I was looking for a way to enable a checkbox like the old version - it is not needed anymore.
So other than removing the delete icon by default (which can be re-enabled in preferences) I find I do like it at least as much.

Just downloaded Next Launcher 3d. It looks pretty good from the 5 minutes I've spent using it. Makes my Nexus look all futuristic. It is normally $16 but you can get it free today. Follow the instructions on this: http://www.androidpolice.com/2013/06...de-usually-16/

Yeah, this launcher isn't too bad at all. I just loaded it and the licensing still worked today for anyone interested.

Edit: Launcher as noted by Rube is gimmicky as hell. I little too much for my taste. I like things a little cleaner than that. Oh well, it was fun to try.
