I'm all for calling out the refs for bad calls but Backlund held his stick for like 5 seconds.

Think about that for a second. A dislocated HIP.

So eff Patrick Poulin.

Scary moment: Calgary defenseman Al MacInnis thought his hockey career was over while in an emergency room in Hartford, Conn., last week.

"I tried not to look down, but it got the best of me," he told the Associated Press. "When I looked down, it (left hip) was twisted pretty good.

"It was the scariest moment. I didn't think I'd get a chance to play again. I was wondering if I'd walk again. When I woke up after surgery and saw it straightened out, I felt better."

The injury occurred when MacInnis was jabbed from behind by Whalers rookie Patrick Poulin. MacInnis went crashing into the boards. The Flames sent a tape of the incident to the NHL.

Pens look terrible. Seriously, how often do you not hear Crosby's name when on the pp especially?
Flames good start to the year gives them confidence and at the same time demoralizes other teams when the Flames get ahead in a game.

This year's 4th line is my favorite since 2012 or so.

Ritchie mugged on that rebound, but we're winning and there's only 2:40 left so no penalty is allowed.

Another solid defensive play by Andersson. Love seeing this guy constantly improving.
