Have you watched Bouwmeester since he joined St. Louis? He is having an amazing year and there's no way he doesn't deserve to be on Team Canada.
|
Maybe 5 games. I see the same old mistakes. Against Calgary I watched him cost them the 2nd goal and be out of position on the PP goal to tie the game.
The fact STL plays perhaps the best structured game in the league makes everyone look better.

Has worked out well enough for the Blues.

Again, they are a very structured team. And Bouw is playing as their 2/3 D. I don't think Bouwmeester isn't capable of being a 2/3 very good D on a NHL team.
However, being a 2/3/4 D on an Olympic team is another thing all together.

Would have preferred Giroux and probably St. Louis over Marleau and Nash (the Marleau pick is really puzzling) but really that is just pulling hairs as there is not much difference there.
I expect Marleau is the last forward and doesn't see the ice, even if Stamkos goes down I could see the replacement guy playing while Marleau sits. Nash has played great internationally so maybe he can bring that again.

There's no blind hate, it is what it is. A great trade for St. Louis and a good one for Calgary. Bowmeester cannot be the go to guy on his pairing, but he is a world class complimentary piece. In Calgary he was paid and brought in to be the man, the go to guy...........he was not up to the task. In St. Louis, he ride shotgun on the top pairing, which is clearly what he's best suited for.
He will get to do the same on Team Canada, so it's a good pick. Only question mark is will he perform under the pressure, time will tell.

If there's one knock on Crosby it's that he doesn't easily find chemistry with new line mates.

You can tell by Steve's body language that he likely lost the battle to get St. Louis on the team.

I think that if Stamkos can't go, Neal is his replacement. I think they will want to replace that one-shot ability, and hard to argue with Neal's PPG being the same as Crosby's.
I think the replacement players depend on who can't go and what role they are looking for.

That is my prediction for starting roster/lines. The only thing I don't like is that third pairing.. but I don't know if I would break up the St. Louis pairing.

I guess I should have expected it but I am surprised at the overreaction by many on here about the team.
There were always going to be disagreements since it was such a competitive team but some people are going way over the top with their criticisms.

Hopefully this lights a fire under Mike Smith's ass. He's been incredibly average this season.

Didn't Nash play on a line with Toews in 2010, and weren't they dominant out there? I think that's why he's on the team this year. I like it.
I dislike Hamhuis being on the team. If I'm Martin St. Louis, I'm asking to be traded from Tampa.

No complaints at all
They picked a bigger, faster, smarter, and more skilled team than in Vancouver, with more players that have been successful in high pressure situations.
Really good selections and incredibly deep at F and D.

Really no complaints. Wish Giroux and St. Louis were in, otherwise I like this lineup a lot. Canada is by far the best team on paper.

Canada could send this team and then a "B" team and the "B" team would be competative.

Yes, and that pylon would make the team too if he put up the numbers Kunitz has over the last few years.

You need to have 13 forwards in your starting roster. 13 forwards will be dressed, and 13 forwards will play in every game. Lines will be arranged with that in mind.
