I'm pretty sure the Ranche in Fish Creek Park has private rooms, great food, great service, cool rustic ambience. A little on the pricey side but not near as bad as Rouge.

I do think they have minimum charges for private rooms though... So you may want to inquire.

We've had firm functions at Buchanan's in the private room. The server was great one time and HORRIBLE another. Food was good. Whisky selection was awesome.
I've also been to a function at Bonterra. Not sure about prices for that but the food was good and the service was great.
You've mentioned it was out of your price range but we had a private function upstairs at Rouge a month or so ago. They were very good to us. I didn't pay the bill so I have no idea how much it cost but I was told it wasn't as expensive as you'd think.

West in Scotia has a few private rooms. Food is decent, but not out of this world. Depending on the day of the week you can easily book this place (ie not Friday).
How about the suite at Flames Central? Just be prepared for mediocre food, though I should qualify that as I haven't been there this year.

I was at Redwater south with about 20 .. service was excellent, they came in with plates, circled the table and set them all down at the same time, very nice touch.... price was reasonable....

Yeah so far Redwater is the winner here. Some of the other suggestions have been killed because we are trying to book during the busy Xmas season. But Redwater is available and so far have been easy to deal with.
Thanks for the help everyone.

Sounds like you've already looked into it but add another vote for Redwater. I've never been there for a function, just a couple of times for meals, but I've been impressed both times. Their creme brulee is awesome, it has some sort of hazelnut chocolate mixture at the bottom and I definitely recommend it.

We all went for my gf's birthday to Rush. It was amazing, and we were in a private room (ours could hold maybe 10, but there was one right next to us that looked to hold a bit more).
It was partly amazing because our roommate is a concierge so we got the hookup.

I had my wedding rehersal dinner at Bonterra for about 25 people and it was pretty good. They do have a seperate room. I don't remember price being too bad.

Italian food (so everyone will find something they like).
Casual Fine Dining.
Central location (don't know where all your guests are from).
I was there a few weeks ago, and was very pleased.

I also agree with Redwater .... had a staff party of 20 there .... good food, reasonable price. This was at the NW location.

Hey, Jiri - here is one for you. Bistro Provence in Okotoks. Very inexpensive for a French place. The chef is actually from France and superb. We had our tiny (16 people) wedding reception there, and I've been 4 or 5 other times - very good, and different from the usual Earlesque fare you'd get at a place like Redwater (unless, of course, that's what you are looking for). Their main room only seats about 25, and they have a side room for special functions.

I know Las Tortillas does not meet your requirements for capacity (seats 6), but they have the best tacos in Calgary.
Hope that helps.
