Mi Tierra, and they've also opened up Tu Tierra down by Acadia. I've been to the latter and the food was delicious. My brother's mexican friend said Mi Tierra/Tu Tierra is very close to real Mexican food.

Recommend the Cochinita Pibil, that is some tasty taco.
Yes, Mi Tierra is the one I was thinking of in Oakridge.

I think there ae some people on here that are confused what is Tex-Mex and what is Mexican

But it is true you can get better mexican in Great Falls or Spokane than Calgary.

One thing I use to gauge a real Mexican joint is if you order a marg and it always comes from a slurppy machine rather than ask if I want in on the rocks or just chilled.

I also check out the hot sauce on the table, if it is Frank's or basic tabasco my expectations drop.

Also if the tortillas are white flour that is not authentic

I like Juan's, but I'm not the foodie some people here are.

I may be too late but Paloma's is a really good authentic Mexican restaurant in the NE.

I went to Tu Tierra on the weekend (Heritage and Fairmount). The Oakridge location is closed. It was easily the best Mexican food I have had in Calgary. Don't bother with appetizers because the entrees are HUGE. My beef chimichanga was great, with a yummy tomato/garlic sauce.
