Boy I've heard that before and it ends up with a lot of crying and calls to the police.

The "Kids World" co-ordinator for the 103rd Annual Priddis & Millarville Fair set for August 21 is looking for volunteers to help that day.
Should be great fun at a country Fair.
Let me know if you need her contact information and I'll PM you. Maybe she'll put you in charge of the petting zoo.

Just a thought, I work in non-profit and we occasionally have IT volunteers to code little database apps with access, .NET or just do random IT type stuff like rebuilding computers or doing user support.
If this is something you might be interested in, you might need to ask specifically for it with your organization because the people involved in intake and volunteer resources are often social workers etc so they don't often think about that as a possibility.

I volunteered as a dog walker / play buddy at the Vancouver SPCA about 10 years ago. Did it for about 6 months when I briefly lived there, and it was incredibly rewarding. I'll be honest, I originally got involved because I wanted to impress a gal I met out there I was chasing who was also a volunteer, but in the end, I could care less about her, and I grew incredibly attached to some of the dogs.
However it was incredibly difficult at the same time knowing you couldn't play with or walk very dog in the building. They would get so pumped up when you got there, and walked past all their cages, because they knew who you were, and that you were a ticket to that awesome outside place. I used to feel so guilty I couldn't take every one of them. I always had the soft spot for the older dogs, as I knew they were less likely to get adopted, and they would transform almost into puppies when they were given some attention.
Also if you are looking for a chick magnet volunteering gig, it is definitely near the top of the list. But you'll quickly find that your number one priority is giving the animals every ounce of attention you can, as they are usually so pumped to be around you.

LOL, I was wondering how long that was going to take. Oh well, it was worth stepping into the firing line on that one, as it is a cause I really believe in.
