Like I said before... I'm all for an Apple sub forum. Just as long as the mods ban the tards who click through three levels of sub forums just to post pictures of tampons in the iPad threads.
Or hell, ban me even. I don't even care anymore. To say that my interest in discussing things on this site as waned as of late, would be putting it mildly. It's not even Apple threads, it's every thread about something someone likes. There's a thread about Eminem, where a guy wanted to discuss the new record... but, of course, before he's allowed to do that he has to first defend himself for even liking Eminem.
It's just on and on and on and on.
"I like this..."
"Why? It sucks."
"I still like it."
"Well then you suck."
Like, seriously. I get that we didn't make the playoffs but yeesh. Why is everyone so miserable all the time?

Right now, 7 of the top 20 threads in the Tech forum are Apple related (or at least contain the word "Apple" or an Apple brand name in the thread title). In the next 20 threads, there are 3 Apple specific threads.
25% of the "tech" discussion on this site doesn't seem outrageously high. Also, looking at the threads, it's not like it's a bunch of 1 or 2 post threads saying "hey check out this new iPhone App". The topics are varied and seemingly valid discussions.
17 of the top 20 are less than 24 hours old, so it's not like things are constantly getting bumped off the front page.

Mods: Could we please have a separate Apple forum in the Off Topic forum? All of these clowns who like things other than what we like are cluttering up our forum with their non-Apple threads. I mean look - there are at least 15 off-topic threads in our forum right now. Thank you in advance.

I love how sensetive apple fans are. How do you not love this idea? You would have your own seperate area to rave about your neat iwhatevers without other people trolling you.
You know, sometimes I go in to the tech forum just to see what's new- not necessarily to dig around to discuss a specific product. Like, I want to read headlines about new stuff that I didnt already know about.
A new game comes out and a few days later it can be a few pages deep with little or no discussion because the only exposure if gets is a few minutes of a link in the small window at the top of the OT forum.

So, was it your intention to make a broad generalization or are just trying to be a troll?
I'm sorry to see you missed the original discussion; but I think the point has been made. It isn't like Apple threads are pushing things to the 2nd page unless it's been a couple of days.
As a new iPhone user myself I am finding myself in the tech forum more lately. By doing so I also found out about the Dell Deals this week, and a few other non-Apple threads.
If there is trolling going on in the tech section, then report the posts.
One of the great things about CP is that we have a lot of active discussions going on. If I miss 12 hours I have to go 2 or 3 pages deep in OT or FOI to get caught up. I think part of the reason it is lively is we haven't compatmentalized every single topic. I see other forums where they have multiple forums and subforums; and topic sit there not being read.

It was my intention to make a broad statement simply to answer another broad statement: about the "clowns" who don't craze over apple products. Both were tongue in cheek as far as I can tell.
And it was also my intention to try to share my suggestion where it is supposed to be shared. If there was no more to be discussed then why not close the thread? There seems to be lots of people interested in having a seperate apple forum. If the unequivocal answer to this thread is "no", then why is it still open? I'm not trying to bait you into closing it, but really, I didnt "miss" out on discussion that is still ongoing.

Fact is you started the name calling (itards), and now I am asking you to stop.
We don't close threads in case anybody has something new to add in which case you didn't. To me it looks like you basically skipped over the entire conversation and added your point.
As Dobbles said in his original post, we don't take adding subforums lightly. And looking at the counts in this thread the number of Apple related threads has dropped by half; including my thread which is now somewhere on the 3rd or 4th page.
Speaking of which; if we had an Apple forum where would my thread have gone? It was about Bell and Telus 3G coverage because I was looking at buying an iPhone. If you say Apple- what about others who may have other 3G devices from Bell and Telus? Some of the best answers were from people who may not go into the Apple forum. If it's in Tech Talk; what if it turns into a long thread about Bell's iPhone apps?
What about the iPhone on Rogers thread- where does that go?

Ok really right after itards I said JK.. but you are right I shouldn't have said that.
As far as adding something new to the discussion, I was simply reinforcing someone else's sentiments. If only one person voices an opinion how do we know how much demand there is?
As far as your other questions, you make some good points- but those are network questions, not iphone questions IMO. Sure the iphone is involved but really its about 3G or rogers, no?

Hmm. 8000 is a lot of threads. You might want to save some time and just search in iTunes for "iClubDeadHorses."

Yes, of course my comments were meant tongue-in-cheek, but I still maintain that the push to separate Apple threads from the rest of Tech Talk is silly at best. Threads are not getting lost under a deluge of Apple-related topics.
And I'm far from a fanboy - I use some Apple and some PC but I'd not go on a rampage if someone claimed I was. People are taking this topic way too personally on both sides - if there are posts that need to be above "Apple threads" they will be naturally.
The non or anti-Apple people need to get over the fact that some people like talking about Apple news, while those who enjoy Apple products need to get over the fact that some people don't. This topic is so ridiculous I can't believe the thread is still being bumped and I mean no offense by saying that. It's just gotten to the point where each side is looking to needle eachother, which is something the 14 year olds I teach do.

So, the thread complaining about the Apple threads that inevitably turn into a flame war has turned into a flame war?
God I love this board.
Personally, I am not an Apple guy but find most of the threads to be interesting and the only way I keep up on what Apple is up to lately. That, and I find FanIn80's shtick hilarious.
