I read an article about a Quebec couple who had gone off piste at Golden and the wife died after days of exposure. The husband is suing the rescue orgs. There was part of the article which mentioned volunteer rescuers were surprised to learn the government would not protect them/cover their liability insurance.

Looks like the BC government is now covering the cost and this mentioned Alberta does too. While not exactly the good Samaritan law, it is related.

On topic, if it wasn't obvious the guy was bleeding I could see walking by. If it was obvious the guy was bleeding, I'd have just called for help but without proper training or equipment (gloves for one) I wouldn't have touched the guy.
