I think if you asked those who have been prosecuted for marijuana charges they would care. And umm...speeding is correlated with an increase of injury/death...has weed? I'm sorry if my song didn't appeal to you.

I didn't say it was a crappy song. I didn't mean to come off that way.
I can care less if you or anyone else smokes weed, it's your life. What I meant to say is marijuana is pretty much legal. I actually have never heard of anyone in Canada getting charged for marijuana charges (unless it's for a grow op). So unless you live in the US, smoking weed is a non-issue here in Canada. I think world hunger, the Iraq war, peace in the Middle East, Urban Sprawl in Calgary, price of parking in downtown and the Economy are FAR more important than the perceived illegality of smoking weed.
Edit: Do you really want weed to be officially legal? Instead of the price of marijuana being controlled by market conditions, it will be controlled by a government body similar to the Alberta Liquor and Gaming Commission. So instead of paying $10 for a gram, you're paying $25 or $30 since it will be heavily taxed like tobacco and alcohol. Maybe it is in your best interest for marijuana to just be decriminalized.

Alright, fair enough. I see your point but although here in Canada most cops do turn somewhat of a blind eye to marijuana I had a friend get charged for possesion because he was caught with 2.4 grams. So even though the laws may be lax here, they are still there and can be enforced. Having said that, the song was moreso about marijuana legalization in general(N.A.) and not just Canada...thus why J.F.K. and Lincoln are mentioned.

Also, price of parking downtown might rank slightly lower in terms of importance haha.

If weed was officially legal like you say and the government was charging $25-30 dollars like you say than what will stop people from buying marijuana for $10 dollars a gram from a dealer?
And I have heard of a lot of people getting charged for marijuana posession. Although most of the time if it's only a few grams they just make you step on it.

Great song dude! I really liked it.
After studying 2 years of law, I really do believe that marijuana needs to be legalized. The best thing that comes out of the legalization is the fact that the court systems in Canada would be far less jammed with minor offences (such as your friend you mentioned)

Yeah that's a great argument. I just did a research project on the alcohol prohibition and booze was so cheap back then.
Lie. I never did any research project and prices went up during that time period.

The amount of money that it costs every single taxpayer in Canada and especially the US would make people cringe I'm sure. The cost to law enforcement, the cost to the judicial system and of course the jail system.
Outside of the total issue of if you agree or not, its costing us a fortune to deal with what to many is a pretty benign drug that so many use on occasion.
Factor in the costs to enforce this ridiculous law and add to that the amount it would bring in legally with it being taxed/legal, its a no brainer.

Well, if it was, I wouldn't have to pay anything for it since I could grow it at home like a houseplant and smoke my own.

Just got a chance to listen to your song and I really liked it. Great voice and great lyrics. One thing I never liked is the swearing because it changed the whole tone of the song but that might be just me.
Otherwise a real good song.
