Gotta love that. "WE made an error, now YOU have to pay for it!"

Never had an issue with Shaw, no contracts is the big thing for me. When I moved to Calgary I did a "SATSWAP"; Bell receiver and card, for HDPVR, SD-box, 3 months free (phone, TV, INET), free install, and once again no contract.

It's not that simple; often they will simply fix the pricing to the correct current pricing. The reason this happens is TELUS' pricing is far more flexible with shaw. I called shaw and told them I had telus internet installed and would be willing to stick with shaw if I could get their internet service for 5 dollars less per month to match telus' pricing. They said no and setup a date for cancel. Keep in mind I've been with shaw for a decade at least. If I was with telus, the loyalty and retention department would be happy to match shaws pricing because they have a lot of discount tags to work with and match other peoples pricing. Sometimes too many tags are used and people get ######ed prices and that have to be fixed.

I'd rather be with the company that appreciates client loyalty and is willing to match pricing, rather than let you walk

If you live in Vancouver I recommend Novus. For $37.50 you get 20Mbps down, 10Mbps up, with 110gb limit for each up and down. Plus no issue with saturation.

The only downside is their Centre Ice situation kinda sucks compared to Shaw, very few HD games.

I've been with the two Internet providers before. Currently I am with Telus and there are times that I am not happy with my connections. The only reason I haven't switched was because I am stuck with my contract. I have Telus Extreme and sometimes my connection is slower than their regular ADSL. I complained to them a few times already and oddly enough the connection gets better. They keep telling me that they can't control what the other sites are. Do I have to call everytime my internet lags? I hope not. My co-worker and neighbour is with Shaw Extreme or some sort and he tells how fast is his download speed is. I have to wait until May before I can switch with Shaw and try them out. One good thing about Shaw, I won't have to be force to sign a contract even if they have a promo. Telus, you need to sign a contract in order to get the promo.

My verdict? I pick Shaw over Telus.

Might be worth sharing- I called into Telus and went into the "Cancel service" prompts. Spoke to a rep, told him I had an ad from Shaw offerring $9.95 internet for 6 months, and was wondering if they could do something for me. He put me on hold, came back and said starting next billing cycle I would get $10 internet for 6 months, and after that the new price would be $20; instead of the $31 I currently pay.

He also said that starting tomorrow I would be getting double the speed I currently get.
