Im in for sure.

I have not been playing much lately..I used to play online a lot, and when I turned 18, I decided to try the casino..I First hand I got delt pocket aces..I was so nervous, played them pretty bad and lost around 35 dollars or so..I ended up making 8.50 profit by the end thankfully.

Has anyone rented a community hall lately? It used to be really cheap ($50/night or so). Anyone know? Obviously, if we go that way, can accomodate a lot of people. However, liquor... would probably need to pay for our own license.

From what i recall liquor licenses for a night are dirt cheap, like $18 or so.

$10 if you're not charging for the booze (open bar), and $25 if you are

OK, if we can organize a lot of people, a community hall sounds like it might be good, given the overhead would be $2-5/person, depending on the number of people. Again, at a house would be better ambiance wise, but let's see how many people are really interested...

I could do monthly but probably not bi-weekly. 50 but not 100.

If there are 20-30 people interested, a bi-weekly game might get 15 people on a pretty consistent basis.

We should start a running list for this for a week or two, get some commitments from people. I know Poker Rodeo had a great registration system, where you could register or drop out easily on-line (but make it for CP) I'll look into it.

If we do go the hall route, does anyone have any suggestions for best communitys/halls to look at?

www.homepokertour.com
is a great site we use to keep track of our league's leaderboard and other stats.

You can also send out announcements through the site, there is a forum for trash talk etc...

Best of all I think it is still free.

Well if we go with the $100 buy-in bi-weekly then I'm out for sure.

I'm with you. I think we'll get more interest at lower stakes, frankly. It makes Vlad's WSOP idea a little tougher, though.

So let's start with a 50-60$ buy-in (monthly) and see what kind of support this gets, and adjust the buy in from there. This is of course if the OP and others feel it is good. The big thing would be to get a whole bunch of CP regulars and if the demand is there then increase the buy-in and number of games.

What, you can't win every second tourney? If it's bi-weekly, $50 still generates a very nice WSOP rake if we put 25% into that based on 15 people ---> 15 x 24 (I know it's 26, but x-mas is probably out ) x .25 x $50 = $4500, which is enough for a nice trip and buy-ins for 2 cheap events.
I have to run out for several hours, but if someone wants to start an online sign-up list, it would be great.
Now, for playing poker in a community hall, I am assuming a gaming license is not required if the "house" does not collect a fee?

I'd be in for something like that.
I mean y'all would end up taking my money but it's fun nonetheless.
Depending on Buy-ins and if we'd be rotating houses since I don't have one.
