I have read that as well. I dont know with 3.0, but I know with the 1.0 iPhone software it did not have all the required features.

I just VPN'd in, and on our corporate IT site it still gives the warning to iPhone 2.0 and Pre users about compaitibilty issues and that we offer no support. Normal users wont worry as I highly doubt Telus/Rogers/Bell use Exchange servers for client email, if they did they should give their head a shake.

Pre issues are chronicled here http://jkontherun.com/2009/06/10/pal...ange-for-some/

Apple licensed ActiveSync for the iPhone, fwiw.

MobileMe has nothing to do with corporate email, its push email for iPhones not unlike the Blackberry BIS (not BES) functionality that non-corporate users use to access their email. If your corporate Exchange server runs POP or IMAP on the internet facing side, you could use MobileMe to get the push, but you won't get the inbox synchronization and calendar integration that the ActiveSync implementation provides (particularly if you only have POP3 available to you on the Exchange side).

Hmm... Maybe I'm not understanding you correctly, but I'm pretty sure MobileMe does provide Contacts and Calendar sync. I used to be an Exchange Admin, and I get exactly the same sync support between Mail/iPhone/MobileMe as I used to get between Outlook/iPhone/Exchange.

Edit: Oh, although I seem to remember something about Calendar and Contacts sync not working for Windows (Outlook/MobileMe)... That's probably what you meant.

I got the same feeling. Seems pretty overpriced for the information we have now. Looks like an iPhone crossed with a netbook with the disadvantages of both. Big (like a netbook compared to an iPhone) and limited processing power ( somewhere between an iPhone and a netbook). I hope for Apple's sake there some hidden ingredient they're not showing or else I don't understand the appeal.

Hmm... I wonder how easy it actually is to put OSX on one of these. I'd go down to MemEx this afternoon and buy one. That would be pretty awesome, especially tethered to my iPhone.

It would have to be able to run the full OSX though. I'd want to be able to connect to it from my laptop and share the screen, etc.

Edit: I just wish someone that works at just one PC place would figure out how to make a product look good. I mean, it's not that it has to look good... I'm not trying to impress anyone with it, but that doesn't mean it should should just be two chunks of plastic smashed together. How hard is it to just make a decent looking shell and keyboard?

I just want to see what Apple is going to pack into it because I'm on the fence. If it was just a 10 inch iPod Touch it just wouldn't work for me. If it ran some form of osx on the other hand I might get very interested. I don't have a macbook and netbooks don't really interest me. If it could do laptopish things I would seriously consider it.

Another issue I have is that my wife forbids forbids a tv in our bedroom. I love falling asleep to the tv ... it's one of my favorite activities. If I could somehow connect this thing to an apple tv I'd lose my mind. Not holding my breath for that, but I will dream about it from time to time.

I know some netbooks are significantly easier to create hackintosh's out of. I imagine for someone with your computer know-how it wouldn't be a huge deal. I hear drivers are the painful part.

Yeah, drivers. Unfortunately, thats usually where everything goes out the window. Video drivers especially.
