We had a prowler at our house last night

Last Stampede my wife woke me up saying that there was a couple of guys with flashlights walking around my yard at about 230am one morning so I give her the phone, grab the easton beside the bed and head down the hall to investigate. I get to a window where I can see much of the yard and there they are, 2 guys using their cell phones as lights walking around my house. I'm a fairly big guy (240ish lbs) and I see that these guys are not big at all so I just threw the door open and charged at one of them.

Well he dropped his phone, shrieked and covered up. I got to him and instead of taking a swing or even tackling him I just yelled at him and asked him WTF he was doing walking around someones yard at 230am shining a light. He said that they were looking for a house number and couldn't see in the dark. He was clearly terrified and didn't look dangerous to me at all so I pointed them in the right direction and let them go.

I was jacked and wish that I could have at least lit one of them up with a shoulder, but I guess it's better this way.

They're lucky. EDBTZ12 probably would have shot them with his gun. They weren't black or native by any chance?

Are you trying to be funny because you fail big time.

Most and by most i mean almost a 100 percent of petty criminals in my neighborhood are black and Native and that's a FACT. they will try and steal the pop cans or occassionaly break into my garage.

Not a sterotype but a FACT. Something you know little about so i suggest you don't comment on something you know nothing about.

And not unless they enter my house would i have shot them. They cant do harm to my family from the backyard.

You mean Whites, East Indians, and Orientals don't commit crimes in Forest Lawn? Thanks for the heads up. Next time I'm in FL, I'll be sure to keep my hand on my wallet next time I'm walking by a black or native person.

I've had people break into my garage but there is really nothing i can do about that.

I'd say about 97 percent of the people i've ever spotted in my yard has been native or black. Thankfully (for them) no one has actually broke a window to try and get in my house. Shoot and ask questions later.

again he said most. Never did he say caucasion, east indians or asians don't commite any crime. But from his experiences black and natives are what he see's the most.

flood lights would work i would think. I have two big dogs but they wouldnt do anything, just labs. Probably get kicked and killed.

But I have a problem with anybody who keeps a gun in their house with the intention of using it on someone who breaks in to rob you.
I have guns in my house (I hunt) but I would never dream of using it on a burgler. There are other ways to protect yourself and your property.

No, it's a stereotype, even if there is truth to it. If it's a FACT, post your supporting proof.

I live in an inner city suburb (South Calgary) and I'm far more wary of the roving bands of white teenagers then I am of the random "ethnic" guy looking for pop cans.

I'm with everyone here who says to inform the police. They'll get some passby's late at night if they hear enough about the area. Next time if the guy did come back, rather than using first instinct and running out and trying to put him in a sling, just call the police (or tell your wife to do it) and then run out and slug the guy. At least they'll be on the way and perhaps he can get caught.

I agree though, having someone on your space is probably trippy as hell. One of the worst feelings is having your stuff taken without authorization. The good thing is, the guy probably won't return to your place knowning he was almost caught once. Just warn your neighbors and let them pass around the word because there may be a chance somebody around you may be broken into instead.
