World of Coca-Cola closed in 2000, I believe, but the Everything Coca-Cola store still exists. I visit everytime I'm in Vegas as I collect Coke memorbilia. It's worth a visit if you want a Coke souvenir or you collect the stuff.
Look for the free and inexpensive shows. Last time we were there we saw a Beatles impersonalization band that was very good. We also found a bar with "dueling pianos." They were billed as dueling pianos but there were actually two musicians who played requests together. They didn't duel, but they were very entertaining and very good value for the dollar. I'd look for a Cirque de Solei show. More pricey but whaat a great show. The wife booked us into a topless show. Yes, I said the wife; this was not me, although it was quite good.

Honestly, the best thing about Las Vegas is the fact that you are driving distance from the Grand Canyon. Seeing that will blow any cheesy tourist trap out of the water. It was literally the most impressive natural sight I've seen.
There are bus tours that do day trips and they are pretty affordable. The good thing is the Hoover Dam is also on the way.

Awesome crepes in teh Paris, ditto the sidewalk cafe in the Paris, Across from the belaggio and good for people watching at lunch.
The Carnegie deli in the Mirage is amazing. A corned beef sandwhich bigger than your head. A must share item.
We enjoyed the bodies exhibit but make sure to get tickets in advance because the ticket boots at the Luxor were a complete joke. They are actually dead chinese people. The contrast between the little old lady at the start and the young healthy man at the end was very interesting. We saw Ka and it was good but not amazing.
We sat throught a time share and got tickets to blue man group and I thought it was amazing. WE were in the fifth row. My first time to them so maybe more impressionable.
The Mirage volcano was kind of lame.
Great dinners in the indoor plazas at the venetian. Really did feel like you were there, if you squint your eyes a bit and pretend.

Not sure if Blue Man Group still does a show in Vegas, but we went to that and it was awesome.

I've seen Mystere and O which were both incredible. I thought Mystere the acts were more talented but the acts in O were more dangerous.
I also caught Lance Burton courtesy of some free time share tickets. It was okay. I don't know if I'd pay the full price to see it though. If you do the time share thing, the question to ask that they can't come up with an answer for it, "why should I buy it when the maintenance fee is more then I'm paying if I stay at good hotel that's right on the Strip?"

That saddens me deeply. I had great memories there and was planning on going there this september and reliving my child hood memories! I even have the free paper hat things they give you saying 'I'm a fountain jerk' or something like that. Aww well, guess I gotta stick with the gambling and drinking - that's too bad

That should be the new tourist slogan for Las Vegas. Applicable to so many things.

So going to Vegas for my stag tomorrow. I've only been there once two summers ago (also for a stag). We're going to the Spearmint Rhino for sure tomorrow, but are undecided for Friday and Saturday. Pure last time was great but it was pretty packed. We have some single guys on the trip so going to a night club with lots of hot, single, easy girls would be ideal. Just kidding. They definately don't have to be single
Any suggestions? Would we need to call ahead and get a VIP guest list? We did that last time at Pure, but do not want to do bottle service again. It was $500 a bottle last time with a 4 bottle minimum. Not to mention $200 in grease money to the grease monkeys.
Shopping at the outlet mall is a must and so is a NL poker tournament.
TIA!

I did bottle service at Pure last time I went (June) and we only had to buy one bottle ($375 I think for a 40 of Grey Goose) it was a blast.
Definitely try craps. It looks hard, but it's really not. Bet the pass line and your odds, and that's it.
Find a cheaper table to play at, $40 will last you a good hour if you're only on the pass line, and you'll get more free drinks in that time than the equivalent amount of money you'd lose on a slot machine. Plus craps is hella fun.
Basic craps lesson:
Put your bet on the pass line. Put your odds bet (when a number is on) behind your pass line bet. Bet more for 4 or 10 if you want to win money.
(new shooter, no number on point)
7 and 11 are good (pays on pass line)
2, 3, 12 are bad (house wins)
4,5,6,8,9,10 select the number
(number selected)
4,10 - these numbers have lowest odds of hitting, but the payout is better. Bet a bunch (like 15 bucks) when these numbers are on.
5,9 - I didn't have much luck with these, but put an odds bet down
6,8 - highest odds to pay out, but the payout is less. Still good to put your odds bet down.
If the dice go off the table, pull your odds bet. I always felt like the shooter was getting cold.
Only a 7 will end the shooter's turn and make the house win.
DO NOT BET ANYTHING INSIDE THE PASS LINE IF YOU WANT TO MAKE MONEY.
My first time playing I bet inside (betting on the other numbers that the shooter can hit) I lost $40, but I played for over an hour in that time. All the other times I didn't put anything other than my odds bet and pass line bet on the table and I walked away with over $300 in winnings from Craps over my time there.

If you're looking for a really good club then go to XS - I think Steve Wynn spent like 100 million building that club. The pool area outside is ridiculous. It is the best club in LV right now.
I've done bottle service at almost all the major clubs and I can tell you that The Bank is the most expensive followed by Pure. If you go to Moon, Lavo, Jet, Rain etc it's bit cheaper. I should mention that Lavo and Moon are smaller clubs so there's obviously less girls around. Rain, I believe, is the biggest club capacity wise in Vegas and every time my buddies and I have gone we've done really well with picking up girls - excellent actually. Jet is nice b/c of how many rooms there are and the variety of music.

I have been there a lot in the past couple years. The other post about the half price tickets is correct, good deals to be had every morning. Beatles LOVE is great at the Mirage, I would have to say KA is the best I have ever seen, absolutely fantastic. Go around to the nightclubs in the day and you can get on their VIP list to cut through the lineup at night.
For good but inexpensive eats, their is a burger place in Mirage, very good, BT or something like that, Also california pizza in Mirage is very good and reasonable, try Margaritaville across the street from ceasars palace... fun, try the fish of the day, excellent... IN my opinion, freemont was a dump. For shopping their is an outdoor outlet mall just a bit further out from Freemont, good shopping...

Anyone made the drive to Vegas from Calgary? Google Maps says it's about 19.5-20 hours, and I'm trying to decide on a half way point to say overnight.

I am likely going in both October and November. Anyone found any good flight/hotel deals lately?

40 of Grey Goose at Moon was more expensive than at Pure for us. Moon was cool because of how high up you are, but Pure had much much much higher quality women.

Yep i have done it a couple of times. That time is about right, straight shot straight south on the I15 from the border south of Lethbridge. Never stopped though, always drove right through to Vegas.

I did it solo in May and yeah, it's pretty much 20 hours. I stopped in Great Falls for a quick 8 hour snooze, but I think if I were to do it again, I'd get further - maybe Helena or Butte. That left a lot of driving for the 2nd day. But all in all it's a pretty easy drive. 4 lanes all the way, decent speed limits. It's even 80 mph for a section in Utah.
The only trouble you may find is traffic going through SLC. I got stuck in a traffic jam, but I think it still only held me up a half hour at most.

I found the opposite. The women at Moon easily surpassed the Pure girls the weekend we were there. Pure was too packed to even move. We had a lot more fun at Moon. Oh, and our waitress there was a Megan Fox lookalike. That didn't hurt.

[quote=troutman;1834162]+1 for the Freemont Street Experience. More trashy than the strip, and more fun.
Take the Deuce up and down the strip - double decker bus.
Cheapest booze - by the Circus Circus on the strip.
Outlet Mall - take the Deuce south past Mandalay.
I would skip the south outlet and go to the Premium outlet that is north of the strip http://www.premiumoutlets.com/outlets/outlet.asp?id=58 They have everything in one stop. I was out to CIM today and its just not the same...I don't even think you can call that an outlet....
