There seems to have been another one yesterday who failed his breathalizer test.
Pilot fails breath test at Heathrow

Quote:
The pilot, whom the airline declined to name, was supposed to operate a flight with 204 passengers to Chicago. The flight was delayed while a replacement was found and the plane eventually took off.

I'm just amazed none of these drunk pilots is named Craig McMurder.

Here is another pilot caught and charged with being over the legal limit just before a flight. Interesting to note that Heathrow was once again the airport that a pilot was busted at.

Quote:
British police said they stopped a United Airlines pilot from flying while intoxicated earlier this week, pulling him from a Boeing 767 aircraft at London's Heathrow airport and charging him with being on duty while his blood-alcohol level was over the limit.

Is the airline industry that bad?

I mean, sure, I know they're not making A LOT of money, but it's not like drinking solves that.

I like to drink when I fly. I don't see why pilots shouldn't have the same rights that I do.

I don't know why people are making such a big deal over this. I mean, how hard can flying a commercial airliner really be?

The legal limit for pilots in Britain is .02, so I imagine it would be incredibly easy to get to that level. I'd prefer my pilot to have no alcohol in his system, but man that seems like something that could be reached by using mouthwash right before the test (anybody know if something like mouthwash could actually get you to .02?).
