I was asked once while applying for a summer job, but never since graduating. Now all my job offers are based on how I've performed at previous / current jobs, or just knowing the right person.

As one poster mentioned, I suppose sometimes one can get away with selectively revealing their grades (ie. leaving out your last semster grades, and covering for it magnificently in your interview).
I can't speak for the Canadian legal market, but US law firms could care less what your undergrad grades were. The school you attend is a pretty good indicator of where you sit, and beyond that they're only looking at your first year law school grades. That said, if your undergrad grades and LSAT score don't get you into a top law school you better be at the top of your class or you can say goodbye to the top firms and top dollars.

Unless you're an engineer, computer scientist, or a nurse companies don't even care if you have a bachelors.

From what the Career Center at Haskayne has told me and what I've experienced they're really not that important. And if they are asking for your GPA they really only care about the GPA for your last 20 courses.
