4. Very complicated question. My qualifications are academic--my marketable skills are written communication and broad cultural knowledge. However, I'm kind of ready to explore other options after 10 years of teaching, and in truth I haven't thought this through fully yet. I have until Fall to find work, so I have to do some soul-searching in between. I was talking to my dad about this, and his feeling was this: "you've never had trouble getting a job. The key is finding one that you find challenging every day."

Congratulatons! My wife and I are in Calgary right now and everyone is on us to move back. If we didn't own a condo we won't be able to sell, I think we would move back here in a minute.

I'd recommend securing employment first before anything else on your list. You've described a position for which I'm not sure how many positions exist in Calgary, especially if you choose to pursue Academia. Given the current downturn here, it may be wise to nail this little piece of the puzzle 1st.

While I have mad one pilgrimage to Petes, it is an 75km round trip from my abode so it isn't an appealing cab fare.
