Something I had seen earlier (and I may have heard it wrong) is that the US is denying American citizenship to the baby, so somebody contacted the Canadian gov't to see if the baby could be give Canadian citizenship.

With all the depressing news around the world lately, it's nice to have a "feel good" story like this.

Given that Uganda isn't part of asia, I see no reason to deny this child Canadian citizenship.

Citizenship should be denied IMO.

There is a reason the US denied citizenship. Its because she likely flew knewing she would give birth in the US, or its also possible she self induced labour as she would get to stay as the mother of the "citizen"

People who try bend citizenship laws in their favour deserve no sympathy IMO. Uganada according to the CIA factbook appears to be one of the better suted African countries, no reason to grant her citizenship IMO. Why do we vote for a Conservative government when we are going to get BS NDP like policies enacted.

1) The current Conservative Government did not create this law, nor are they above it.
2) Innocent until proven guilty.

Once you get on a US airline, you are considered to be on sovereign US soil, so I am wondering why she was given Canadian Citizenship.

Governments, in this case Canada, have almost no restrictions on who they grant citizenship to. If Canada wants to they can pretty much do anything they want. Royalty and diplomats, and their families, have special rules, as already mentioned.
