I guess I should have expected this reaction from a bunch of cat lovers.
Anyway, the issue is that the cat dander gets down through the carpet and into the underlay. You can never clean it out completely. If you are alergic to cats, you won't be able to live in a house that has had cats in it, until you replace the carpets and underlay.
Of course, if you happen to get people that aren't alergic to cats looking at your house, it isn't an issue.
Oh and one other thing - to the comment about me not understanding real estate - I've bought and sold more properties in my lifetime that I can count. So, I do understand real estate.
