Wow. Stamps get swept in all eligible categories. Sweet. Hopefully this trend continues into the weekend.

Eastern media bias wins again. I hope the Stamps win by 40 points.

I gather Burris and Sandro lost the individual awards, eh? I am Vegas and I don't hear anything about the Grey Cup here let alone any CFL news. Before I leave I will have to bet here in Vegas on Stamps to win the Grey Cup.
Anyways, I am dissapointed that Burris lost the MOP but the important thing is we win the Grey Cup.

Don't get me wrong I'm equally biased as you, but in the other direction, but it isn't best head to head or best record or best record against good teams or most touchdowns against teams with a winning record.
Calvillo had a better season by numbers regardless of who he's playing.
It is Most Outstanding Player. Not even most valuable player which would insinuate that importance to one's team is key.
This award is for who had the best season. That was arguably Calvillo. Not garbage at all.

Get real Trollio. Anthony was not outstanding at all vs. good teams.
If CGY offered MTL Burris straight-up for Cavillio, they would make that trade very day of the week, and twice on Sundays.

Anyone watch the awards. On the score they were saying that smiling hank wasnt so smiling.
I am an Esks fan, but I really hope the Stamps smoke the Als.
Also, the Canadiens are really classy for having the Roy Jersey thing the same weekend as the Grey Cup - stay classy San Diego.

You'd have to have a pretty small heart to dismiss the beautiful story authored by Anthony Calvillo this season.
But you'd also have to have a pretty small mind to suggest he was the CFL's Most Outstanding Player this year.
However, that's exactly what Canada's football reporters did last night at the CFL players awards where 27 of the 46 voters gave Calvillo his second MOP award.
Yes, the Montreal quarterback did indeed have a slightly higher efficiency rating and four more touchdown passes than west nominee Henry Burris, but the Calgary pivot had 400 more rushing yards and two more wins.
None of that excuses the fact Calvillo had a losing record (3-4) against teams with winning records and racked up 21 of his 43 touchdowns against glorified CIS clubs from Hamilton and Toronto.
Burris' record against winning clubs was 8-3, leading the Stamps to the West crown over the three best teams the league has to offer.
Yet, the best quarterback on the best team didn't win.
"All I know is we're 6-0 against 27 all-stars," grumbled Nik Lewis, referring to the Stamps perfect record against B.C. and Montreal, who had 13 and 14 all-stars respectively.

That quote is awesome. Soon to be 7-0 against 27 all stars.

Didn't realise that the economy was hitting the media so hard.
Quote:
The Grey Cup is a Canadian institution, but the media contingent covering the event will be the smallest in years. The Ottawa Citizen, just a few hours away by car from Sunday's game in Montreal, will not attend. Nor will the Ottawa Sun. Edmonton Sun columnist Terry Jones, who has covered 35 consecutive Cups, was pulled just a few days ago.
He's not alone. The Edmonton Journal took a pass. So did the Regina Leader-Post. The Province in Vancouver, which traditionally staffs the event, won't this year. Jones was in Montreal last weekend for the East Division final between the Edmonton Eskimos and Montreal Alouettes. However, when the Esks lost, he was told to come home. "I was disappointed because of the streak, obviously," he said yesterday. "The airfare had been done, the hotels, everything."
Editors and reporters say the problem isn't that the CFL championship game has lost its lustre. The decisions were based strictly on the economic downturn and the financial problems bedevilling newspapers. "Frankly, it was hard for me to disagree with the decision," said Jonathan McDonald, sports editor of the Province. "I think that about 550 people at [Province owner] Canwest are going to lose their jobs in the next little while. I'd sound really pathetic if I thought it was all about us."
Given Ottawa's proximity to Montreal, the Citizen's decision was particularly difficult, sports editor Hugh Paterson said. "We thought about it," he said. "But with the economy the way it is and budget constraints, we decided we'd just rely on the chain. We didn't make the decision lightly because it's only two hours down the road."
The Canwest chain is using coverage from Montreal produced by its newspapers in the home towns of the Grey Cup teams, the Calgary Herald and The Gazette in Montreal. Sun Media is relying on Calgary Sun copy, although Steve Simmons of the Toronto Sun will be in Montreal on the weekend, in large part because of appearances on TSN........

Well, any member of the media in this country who ever calls the CFL's "bush league" can be instantly called a hypocrite after this situation.
Its just as much the media's fault for the CFL being in the sometimes clumsy state its in, without proper promotion through the print and (other then TSN) tv media, especially given the viewership numbers increasing yearly in the CFL. Its not just lame excuses like these in neglecting the biggest day in Canadian football, its a spit in the face to the league.
Meanwhile, I am sure there was no expense spared in the throng sent to Toronto for the HHOF a couple weeks ago by various outlets, and I am sure coming from all parts to Patrick Roy's thing tomorrow too.

Yeah, I fail to see how the two Ottawa papers annual budget will be significantly impacted by buying a tank of gas and two passes to the game.
Hell, they could even carpool if things are so bad.

So he throws for like 7000 yards, 50 tds, and 1000 yards running on the season?

The TSN Grey Cup Saturday coverage is phenomenal. I've been sitting around watching some of it and a lot of this stuff rivals the quality of NFL films productions.
Kudos to TSN. Hope it never goes back to CBC.

I live in England and can't seem to find a way to catch the game. Since NASN doesn't broadcast CFL games anymore, I'm at a loss as to how to at least listen to this game if I can't actually watch it. Does anyone here know of any internet radio broadcasts I can tune into tonight?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Go Stamps!

QR770 will have an internet stream, as I think they are the broadcasters, if not try streaming the fan 960.
TSN will likely be streaming video but I think you might have to have a Canadian IP address.

I'm thinking the Stamps will win by 13+ points.
I realize it's one game and anything can happen. I remember the 90's when Calgary was the favorite and we'd lose in the West final or the Grey Cup.
But the Stamps dominated in a much tougher division, and the Als didn't even do that great in a weak division. Not only that, Calgary won both the meetings this year.
If Calgary can go up first, it'll probably be a long night for the Als and their crowd. It will be important to silence the crowd early I think.
But based on this year, Calgary should win relatively easy.
Obviously the individual award had a huge eastern bias to them (or just didn't recognize the Stamps coming of age again, sometimes it takes a year). I hope Calgary uses this as motivation but doesn't get too worked up about it feeling they HAVE to prove something. All they need to do is go out and play their game and they should be fine.
I'm off to have wings and beers so I'll say it now...
GO STAMPS GO!!!
