Man, I'd love to see the Raptors try to screw him over for this. He didn't try for us. Fine we had a contract that paid you x-dollars. You didn't try, we wan't half of it back, see you in court. Oooooh that'd be one hell of a ground breaking case, it would have terrible effect on professional sports, but it would be entertaining to see Carter get his.

I'd love to see it, but the Raptors would never win and it would just be a waste of their time and money
Yeah, they woudln't have a chance, and I'm pretty sure the contract doesn't say anthing about playing your best, so they woudln't have much to stand on. It'll never happen, but I like do dream some times. [/b][/quote]
The NHL standard player contract does, in article 2c:

"...to give his best services to the Club and to play hockey only for the Club unless his contract is released, assigned, exchanged or loaned by the Club..."

Highly likely that the NBA has a similar clause, but I'm too lazy to look it up. Not saying there's a lawsuit in the making, but it's probably in the contract.

The one player that comes to mind when I read this was Eric Lindros. Nothing but a big spoiled baby.

I wonder when things ger rough in the swamp if Carter will bail and "not try."

His value is going to be next to zero.
I willing to bet that he will stop giving 100% in the next few games. Now that Jefferson is out for the season, I think its a given the Nets will be last in the division.

Vince Carter scored a season-high 43 points and grabbed 14 rebounds while Jason Kidd posted a triple-double with 22 points, 16 assists and 11 boards to lead the New Jersey Nets to a 107-97 overtime victory over the Philadelphia 76ers at the Meadowlands.

"He (Carter) was amazing, he did everything," said Kidd, who posted his 62nd career triple-double.

I can see Raptors fans fuming at this very moment...since Vince did NOTHING in his closing days. Vince is trying to sell his Harbourfront condo but I'm sure fans can't wait for that to happen sooner. Time will tell if he falls victim to injury again.

I bet Vince Carter will return to his old self right after the All-star break. I just don't see Vince keeping this up.

I think Vince will continually play well at times and take games off at other times.

He seems to be able to go off when things are working but at the first sign of adversity or toughness it is too easy for him to decide to dog it.

Even though he screwed Toronto with this type of play I would hope that he somehow is able to change his ways and have a productive career for the rest of his time in the NBA.

I heard Carter on ESPN radio today and he was saying how the problem in Toronto was that he was trying "too hard". How he came into camp committed to giving it a 110% effort.

So you were lying before Vince about not trying. Or are you lying now? Which is it?

The announcer also asked him if he felt he could've returned to form in T.O. He said "no."

Man I hate him.
