It might be a good idea to wait a few weeks. Let this economy collapsing thing reverberate through the populous and these tour companies/airlines will be desparate to be getting people to their resorts. First things people cut out of spending is the frivolous.

It's already been mentioned on the news that companies offering vacation packages will be discounting airfares since the sale of vacation packages is down already.

All sorts of things, cleaner, softer, sand, all the beaches in Barbados are crushed fine coral or seashells, some of them are so fine they are like powder.

Clean/clear water, or large waves or lack of waves.....a number of things. One things I really noticed was no, or nearly no vendors. The vendors we saw would come by in the morning and tell you they were set up under a near by palm, if you wanted anything.

Barcelo Maya has a really nice beach in the Mayan Riveria. Bahia is a really nice resort, but the beach is no where as nice as Barcelo's.

Both those resorts are fairly large, but have lots to do and pretty good food

thanks for all the great info. We really like the idea of all inclusive and with some excurtions. Our budget is not too bad. we plan on going to Mardi gras in feb also to see some friends. So we dont want to spend a ton.

Never been there, but the beaches between Mexico west side (Los Cabos, Puerto Vallarta) were crap compared to Turks and Caicos and Jamaica.
