I should have gotten tickets, my plan of listening to it on the radio now looks like a bad bad idea.

Cool.

Thanks for the updates, everyone.

This is what I was told from someone who worked at the building:

apparently the cops saw the guy drop off the package and then start running. They followed him and he started driving down the wrong way on one way. The cops did catch him is what I heard.

I have pics of the robot putting the suspicious package into the "ORB" detonating cylinder.

HOpefully no one gets hurt. It made for an exciting day at work though.

Personally, I would not have a robot THAT DROPS THE FATAING PACKAGE!!!!.

Is this a SNL skit? Is the robot being played by Martin Short? Good Grief.

From citybeat....

Quote:
-----------------------------------------------------------------
CITYBEAT - CITY OF CALGARY PRESS RELEASE
-----------------------------------------------------------------

On Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2008, at approximately 2:45 p.m.,
police responded to a report of a suspicious package at the
corner of 4 Avenue and 4 Street S.W.

Fire, police and EMS responded, along with the City of
Calgary Traffic Operations who assisted in cordoning off the
area, and securing buildings in the vicinity.

The adjacent office tower was partially evacuated, and people
in surrounding buildings were moved to a safe location within
their building, based on information from the Tactical Unit
regarding the potential risk for an explosion.

The CPS Tactical Unit was on scene to X-ray the package, and
transported to a secure location.

Subsequent investigations conducted by the Tactical Unit
revealed the suspicious package was in fact a hoax device
with no explosive capabilities.

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to call
police at 403-266-1234, District 1 GIU at 403-567-6100 or
Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
