Good movie. Won an Oscar for best foreign film. A bit depressing but it made me think. Subtitles of course.

To be honest, I didn't care for the counterfeiters as much as I hoped.
If you're going for a foreign language film, I liked "The Lives of Others" better.
To each his/her own, though.

Nick and Nora's infinate playlist comes out at the start of octover. It got the geeky kid from superbad and Juno in it and looks prety good. It is at the Toronto film festival right now

I saw Read Before Burning last night and enjoyed it. The critics are right, there isn't one likable character in it (welcome to a Coen bros. movie critics) but it is very entertaining. Good pace, well acted, and funny. Be ready for a Coen bros. ending.

Yeah The Bank Job is based on a real heist. Certian things were changed to make it more movie friendly though.

Speaking of foreign language films, I just went and saw Mongol last night. If you're a fan of the big, sweeping, epic productions, and don't mind subtitles - what a great movie. Well worth the price at the Canyon Meadows.

Just bumping an old thread rather than starting a new one, but I watched this last night (on PPV), and thoroughly loved it. The mongolian scenery for the film is breathtaking and the whole film is visually very rich. I was expecting it to be much heavier on the battle scenes, but the story arc about him and his wife was by far the dominant part of the film, although the battles were great too. I have a hard time remembering another historical epic that I enjoyed as much as this one. And I was excited to learn that this is the first of a planned trilogy about Genghis Khan.

Thirded (for the 2nd time in this thread!). Just watched it the other day and I thought it was fantastic! I really like Brendan Gleeson and he is terrific here, as is Ralph Fiennes. Even Colin Farrell is good. Sort of reminded me of Seven (for the morality play) crossed with The Matador (the human comedy/hitman thing). Some shockingly violent content that seemed to make me laugh out loud rather than gasp in horror.
Definitely one of the quiet triumphs of 2008.

My girlfriend and I went and saw Marley and Me the other day. I wasnt expecting much from a movie about a dog but it was actually quite good. If you want a date movie that is it for sure. Definitly a heart-warming tear jerker, but as far as it goes it was not bad at all

Still no release date for "The Wrestler", couldn't wait and obtained a very good copy online. Loved it, damn fine film.

As mentioned above, In Bruges was hilarious. Funniest movie I've seen in a long time... that includes any of the 100000 Judd Apatow movies that have come out in the past couple years.
I watched 7 pounds last night but feel asleep with about 20 minutes to go so I missed the twist but I'm pretty sure I know what it is. I'll finish it off when I get home just to be sure. Its not a bad movie but not great either... It can get pretty slow at times.

Felon is a pretty good movie, a bit cliched perhaps. A regular dude gets thrown into prison for killing an intruder to his house.
