Here's a map to 2008 murders.

http://www.cbc.ca/calgary/features/homicide2008/

Listed already at 19 for the year, probably missing the last few as well.

They say there has been 23 in this news story, and there was the one this morning so I think it is 24 now.

As was mentioned earlier in the thread, majorish crime is down from last year.
Somebody "almost being killed in a drive by shooting" isn't a murder. And when I said it seems like every other day..... it's an expression and not to be taken as fact.

Some of the pegs probably account for more then one person like the dalhousie incident which counts as 4 I believe.

Interesting to see most are in the north... and the suburbs of the NW, SW, SE have practically 0.

I don't mind drug dealers are gang members getting shot down... I just don't like innocent people dying.

Friends of the victim have identified him as Robbie Jones, although police haven't confirmed yet.

"For the last three days, they've been partying. They had been racing up and down the street," said Partridge.

Three nights ago, Partridge overheard the occupants say they were going to go help a friend who had been in a fight, then they got in a car and sped off.

I'm not going to cry because some drug dealer got removed from this mortal coil, I just hope that they find the people responsible.

Gun Registries won't help, the only thing thats going to start cycling this down is an automatic life sentence with no chance for parole for any crime that involves a fire arm. And a 20 year sentence with no parole for any other weapons related offense.

Rehabilitation won't help these gang members since doing a short stint in prison is equivalent to a 16 year old losing his virginity. The punishment for weapons crime and murder have to be punative, nasty and leave no doubt that the courts are serious about this garbage. We have to make examples out of these thugs.

They really need to bring back hard labour sentences too.
