Welcome to Calgary and I hope you have fun at the game. As far as club scene/nightlife though, dont expect much. Calgary is definitely not a great place for that. Its a very lame scene here with respect to nightlife.
If you are into the lounge/pub(Melrose, 1410, Classic Jacks, Yardhouse, Lucky) type atmosphere, then 17th is your best bet. Not much in the way of actual clubs/bars on that street. Mostly lounges and restaurants, only a few actual clubs.
You can still have alot of fun at the lounges and all though, just really depends on what kind atmosphere you want. If you want a party type/club feel in Calgary, similar to what you would get in Mtl or T.O., you will not get that at all. We dont have an actual club district here. However, if a good time to you is going out and just having some drinks in lounges/pubs, then you may be alright.
