He did convince them on DRMless downloads too which changed things for everyone else, so I have some hope.

Which is a very good thing.

The last thing consumers need is the music equivalent of Wal-Mart on the internet. Apple's dominance is not good for the long-term viability of music download services.

Ah it's only some labels that are offered DRM free on iTunes, I thought it was all.

Hm, that makes me think then that the subscription will still be DRMed, so you own them but are still tied to iTunes. Which would suck.

Oh well, I guess we'll see what happens. Small moves are better than no moves I guess.

Plus the DRM free music on iTunes costs more than a DRM song.

Edit- At least I think they cost more. But I just found an iTunes Plus song for .99, so maybe I'm wrong.

I've found iTunes Plus songs that are .99, too. I've been surfing it for most of the morning and the majority seems to still be $1.29/song.

I tend to be a bit of a sound quality snob, and I hate DRM. Hence, I buy and rip CDs for my Ipod.

But, an all-you-can-hear buffet of music might just get me to change my opinion. It would be nice if the tracks were at least 256kbps.
