It's probably a combination of a couple of factors. Florida has been going through a bit of a drought (I know, that's hard to believe when you consider its one big swamp) and that has affected the amount of water they can lay down, and you are also right on the shoulder of the bermuda coming back in and the rye dying off. We're in the same situation here in Arizona, where the fairways appear a little patchy at times. The turf is also way different in Florida is a lot more sandy, so you don't appear to have that thick base of soil. I'm not suee if you noticed, but the residential grasses are a much heartier variety (St. Augustine) than you'd ever see in Canada and is more like a weed, featuring wide sharp blades. For comparison sakes, Arizona is much more like Alberta in respect to turf.
