Isn't 720p is the hightest "p" quality that any broadcaster is sending out right now? I don't think anyone is shooting in 1080p at the moment.
I have never had any problems with my HD but I always hear my friends who have Shaw whine and whine about the quality and choices they have for HD. I do love my Shaw High Speed though!

Yeah, no broadcasters are using 1080p and it won't be happening soon. As I understand it 1080i though is better than 720p and takes up more bandwidth, so Bell is using 720p when they can get away with it.
As far as their picture goes, mostly it's great but that last NFL playoff game in Green Bay was terrible maybe because CTV was sim subbing it or maybe because of over compression. It's a shame because NFL broadcasts have always been the standard for me for wow factor.

Another great idea by those idiots at the CRTC!

Tuned into the new National Geographic channel hoping to see some great new HD shows - and all they were showing was standard SD stuff. They did make sure to have a National Geographic HD logo at the bottom right of the screen though, (where there was no picture of course).
Hopefully they get it up and running with some full HD stuff.
When are we getting TLC HD?

Pretty sure when I watched KvsS on my Shaw Showcase HD channel, it was in HD. "Who Can Commit The Most Crime"... classic.

National Geographic is about 30% HD content which kind of sucks, but when you're looking through your guide, it will say in the description whther the show is in HD or not.
Discovery channel (218 on shaw) is full time HD, so I find fmyself watching that more than anything.

I'm pissed that SHAW hasn't picked up The Score HD yet. That's the main one on my wish list, without knowing any of the others.

You arent' missing a lot yet. There isn't much HD on Score, even their highlights are only in an annoying stretch mode. They have positioned themselves on the HD lineup though, so it's more convenient to find them.

Any idea when the mpeg4 switch is coming? I've been waiting for that forever. For the past 18 months, or more, the HD compression has been getting worse and worse. It pretty much looks like upconverted SD now. I am praying that mpeg4 will bring the quality back to what it once was.

When they change over to MPeg4 we'll need the new mpeg4 receivers such as the 6141 or 9242. All I've heard is guesses of two or three years of when this will happen and it may happen gradually.
A new satellite should be coming sometime this year though and provide more space for more channels. The only problem is at 72.5 degrees, I don't know if I'll be able to get a good aim it. Being on the west coast my 82 dish is already aimed slightly towards the ground. So any trees or hills in the way will block the satellite.
