What the F is Jim Dinning thinking? has he lost all his political sense and intelligence????
Go over to the Liberals and you will be our next Premier!!!! Farmer Ed would get crushed.
Klein went from the Libs to PC. Didn't turn out badly for him.

Is the WallFlower Alliance going to be able to scrape up enough warm bodies candidates for every riding?

Doesn't that pretty much describe about every political candidate in North America these days.
I still laugh at the fact Ed Stelmach won the PC leadership because they couldn't pick a clear cut winner and that the two top candidates hated the other guy enough to pick Stelmach as their runner up. No wonder it's an apathetic mess.

^UG Flame if you live in the riding I think you do (based on your location remark), then you have a phenomenal Liberal candidate in your riding...

Not just my riding, was talking to my sister in edmonton, people at my office and other offices within my company (I was bored at work today) people just don't trust the PC with Ed in charge, honestly I'm not even sure who would be running in my riding.

Kind of hard to be phenomenal when you are part of the Liberal party.

It might be crazy enough to work... Dinning would provide that fiscal conservatism/social neutrality we all crave... of course, people picture him and Ralph having a money fight with visions of the General Hospital imploding in their heads... He's not an ideal candidate either, but more palatable than Ed to say the least.

Feb 4th is almost certain. We do a lot of consulting work with the government, and we've been informed that there is a "Blackout" period for public meetings between Feb 4 to the end of March. So until April, I'm not able to hold any public presentations. Really puts a cog in a bunch of my work, dagnabbit.

Ugh, I got a poll call a couple of days ago (automated)
Got to the second question, which was:
What is the most important election issue:
a) healthcare
b) our crumbling schools
c) the lack of affordable housing
d) and some phrase about environment
It was a pretty obvious poll put forth by the NDP or libs...
anyways after selecting repeat options for the second time, it hung up one me...
Gotta love biased polls...
(To mention, what's important to me: Education (post secondary specifically Infrastructure, and Economy (low taxes, whatever))

You'll see 'em in the hinterlands. They might even elect more than one this time. A lot of rural folk are fed up with what they see as the left-leaning tories. Of course, no good Albertan worth his or her salt could bring themselves to vote Liberal. It just ain't done in them parts.

It sure sounds like an election is close. Fast Eddie and the gang have been making all kinds of promises and commitments for our money the past few days.
The budget is slated to come down on Feb. 14, but Fast Eddie doesn't want a financial blueprint with Finance Minister Lyle Oberg's fingerprints on it since Oberg isn't seeking re-election.
As suggested, Feb 4th is the favourite guess for the announcement. That's when a new session of the legislature begins. The government's throne speech will be the tory's election platform. It's an hour of free airtime. Once the speech is made, the election is called.

I have to ask everyone what their problem is with Stelmach? So far from what I have seen he is much less razzle dazzle than King Ralph but so what?...and the way he organized his cabinet was miles ahead of where it was before (at least from where I sit)
Good point about Dinning, if he ran as a Liberal the race for Premiere would be very interesting indeed.

Eh....
Just wanted to test out the "WallFlower Alliance" dig to see if it had any stick.

I can't remember exactly, but its basically a couple of unions. They are on every commerical break now! Its sad, but lets face it they are effective ads. Stelmach even made reference to them in his presser yesterday!

Feb. 4th is consistent with what I was told by the Alberta government's ad agency when they cancelled the ad campaign I referenced in my previous post. That was the date she said the writ was going to get dropped.
