For you to claim them as inferior is a joke. The light is not attractive? That's pure subjectivity and not something you should hang as a statement.
Maybe the older ones used to take a while but the ones I have come on instantaneously.
What they don't do is burst out and then need replacing at inopportune times like trad. bulbs often do.
