I mostly collect Aeroplan points, and it's been good to me over the years. I've also started getting into Air Miles, as I do most of my grocery shopping at Safeway and I might as well collect those as well.

It seems like Air Miles are good for goods (electronics, etc) but Aeroplan is the better deal for travel. Anyone compare the two?

I recently switched from Aeroplan to the Aventura card.
definately more freedom and you can purchase more than just trips with your points.
might want to consider it, after you have blown your aeroplan points.

I agree - Aeroplan is great for pretty much just flights. Although they do offer other items, it is often only for a lot more points than it is worth.

The thing about using your points (we have found) is it is great for going to different places/islands ie. Turks & Caicos, Barbados, Grand Cayman, Europe etc which would generally be quite expensive. Then all you pay for is hotels, meals etc which can usually be found for a reasonable prices.

IMO it is not as advantageous to use the Aeroplan points to go to places such as Mexico, Cuba, Dominican Rep. etc, etc.. where there is ususally great all inclusive package deals (flight/hotel) to be had throughout the year.

But Air Miles dings you for the GST portion of the price of the ticket too. You always pay more going with Air Miles, at least that has been my experience.

I mainly use Avion. You can go with any airline. If there is a seat on any airline in the world, it is yours. You do have to give them minimum of 2 weeks notice though and you have to stay one Saturday.

good idea.
you should leave your aeroplan card in your work's fridge. That way, I can swipe both your lunch and your aeroplan points and you can cry about it on CP

ROFL.. I often saw thoes in the store and thought.. that would be a nice way to collect some points, but could never really get too excited buying them 1 at a time....

I'll take whatever you got, if you have some kicking around

Thanks!!
