I have heard that the sound reverberations can be a problem with the Airbus, both on landing and take off, not sure if that will have much impact in Calgary, we were able to handle the Tornados the RAF were practising with in the Calgary area recently.

Agree that Singapore Airlines is one of the best I've ever flown, but Cathay and Emirates are right up there as well. Eva Air is another one that's really good

You can also get your A380 with double beds. I guess joining the Mile High Club has lost some of its luster, but for long flights a bed would be sweet, although pretty damn expensive.

I've always known this, but have never known what the situation would have to be to for it to come here.

I agree that the 380 is probably one of the ugliest planes designed. The wings are the only saving grace, because the fuselage looks like a super guppy.

Winnipeg got bumped to 2nd place in circa 1982. Shuttle was due to land, but weather in California prevented that. The alternate was Florida (Shuttles hadn't landed there yet) but weather also prevented a landing. The shuttle switched to a polar orbit and then came into White Sands, New Mexico. Winnipeg was the secondary site in case something suddenly shifted in the weather there. As an 11 year old kid living there, I was hopefull.

I'm not sure Calgary is still on the list though; unless we are talking about absolute emergencies. One of the criteria was that it had to be an airstrip on a secure military base.

In order to be part of the in-flight crew with SIA, you have to be a certain "size". If you notice all in-flight crew must fit into the sleek and slender dresses otherwise, NO FLIGHT CREW FOR YOU

A lot of people haven't flown singapore airlines yet, but once they do, they will never forget it.

Also, did I mention the flight attendants are HOT?

And who was the dude who paid $100,000 to fly from Singapore to Sydney?
The guy who wanted to give a lot of money to charity.

The 787's will dominate the airlines in 10 years.

Gorgeous and tremendously more efficient than anything else out there.

Not sure if it has been mentioned, but the A380 has a limited number of destinations because it is simply to large to land at most airports.

My coworkers and I thought we might see it yesterday since the flight path goes over our office, but with the rain we figured we wouldn't see anything and we didn't.

Yeah, because Calgary has one or two of the longest commercial runways in North America IIRC. That's why most planes don't turn on those noisy reverse thrusters when they land in Calgary--they just let the plane coast further.

The YYC is upgrading, and one of the phases os process of upgrading the terminal, aprons, and build the new planned runway east of the terminal for this plane specs however. So incase it ever does come, such as stampede time...

If you're planning on taking advantage of all that extra space and joining the Mile High club in style, try Virgin Atlantic, and not Singapore Airlines.

I wonder how long till some Youtubes their latest "accomplishment".
