President Stephen Colbert?

This is crazy! I wonder how serious he's gonna go with this. It would be really fun if he went all the way. Popular TV icons are probably about the only people who can run as independents. He's on TV everyday, essentially campaigning. Even if he's dead serious and wins, he couldn't really do much damage, at least, not a lot more damage than some of the real candidates would.

Something has to give here though.

I'm the same way. I can only take so much of Colbert, but alot of what I like about him is how he asserts himself, the bridge in Ukraine (I think) the wrist-strong bracelets, etc.

Its funny because hes making people make fun of themselves while seeming totally oblivious. I guess he just takes it to a different level which is hilarious sometimes.

I do prefer the Daily Show though.

Doesn't that mean he cannot possibly win?

I am not all that familiar with the US electoral system so could someone explain that to me?

I got an invite to a monsterous facebook group supporting this whole thing, literally everytime you click refresh there are 15 new members in the group. The group is well over a million members now. But this group does say at the top that he is only on the ballot in Carolina, so there is zero chance of him winning.

I get tired of Jon's self-mocking, his passive-aggressiveness, his pathetic ad libs - I even tire of his "henh, henh, henh" when "imitating" Bush.

Colbert has unlimited material to work worth - Hannity, Coulter, and Papa Bear give him more to work with than anyone could ever hope for. I could watch him make fun of those three 24 hours a day.

Gotta agree, at least partially. I'm okay with Colbert, but I agree that Stewart is better.

He could become the next Nader and have people just throw away votes on him. He'll probably win the primary and then bow out or something.

I agree that Colbert's act gets somewhat tiring, but I think that as a politician (AKA not the the screen seen Colbert) he'd be extremely effective. As this goes on I'm getting more frustrated at the way he carries he act with him everywhere he goes.

I am the opposite. I can only take so much of Jon Stewart. I like the spots they do with the correspondants for the most part but when it is Stewart by himself I find that he gets tiring very fast.

Funny you say that. I started watching the Colbert Report to see what all the fuss was about. I did enjoy the ones I saw and it made me laugh, however after about 5 episodes, I stopped laughing and stopped watching.
