I have a Treo 650 and I do like it a lot. I find the buttons are the right size for typing and it is fairly easy to understand and navigate through. I don't eamil or use the internet because I don't believe in paying $300-$400 for email that I can get for $20 a month at home. Also the straw that broke the camels back and made me flip the bird to Rogers and head to Fido where the monthly bill is reasonable.

My only complaint about the Treo 650 is the volume is so quiet. It can be rediculously hard to hear people on it at times.

Burn Baby Burn or Calculoso, where did you go to get the volume enhance add on?

- mytreo.net is an excellent website for Treo enthusiasts. Discussion forum plus lots of software on there (some better quality than others).

- treocentral.com is another excellent website and discussion forum for Treo enthusiasts.

There are other websites out there that I've been on over the years, but these are the two that I keep frequenting when I have time/interest.

Telus is the only choice for me. It has the best coverage, so far, through out Alberta. I gave my 650 to my wife.

I believe I got mine from the Palm on-line store.

Rogers is the only one that carries the Pearl.

I used the Wheel thing on BB's before and it's awful, the new Roller ball thing is definatly better!

One problem I forgot to mention with my Treo 650. I kept having problems with the head phone jack. Under warranty I had it replaced twice. For some reason it would think that the head phones were plugged in when they were not. If I tried to phone somebody, they could hear me. But I coudn't hear them, because the phone thought the head phones were plugged in. Sometimes I could fix it by plugging the phone jack in and out. The other 2 times they just replaced it. So far I have not had this problem with the 700wx.

So what are we talking with regards to monthly bills (on average) if you want to send and respond to emails on your BB/Treo? I know it will depend on your plan, but what are users finding they are paying a month, and how much do you use it?

I think, I'll have to check my bill, I pay $60 for unlimited use. Which is BS because unlimited really means 50MB and then you pay additional charges per MB after that. To send text emails will be no big deal. But recieving pictures or movie's could be costly. I usually just check my email on it. It only down loads a small portion of the message. If you want to retrieve the rest, attachments ect., you will need to select the entire message and hit send / recieve.

I do surf the web on occasion. I'll read sports stories while I'm lying in bed or waiting somewhere. I'm pretty sure my usage is well below what I pay for.

You actually dont. Both Blackberry and Treo can be hooked up on JUST a voice plan if you want with pay-per use data (which is $12/MB!!! ).

If you are going to use either for email or surfing I would recommended some type of data plan for sure.

I have used almost every Blackberry from 6750 to 8830 and also used the Treo 600, 650 & 700. My personal favorite is the 650 and it is the one I am actually using now. I have personally found it to be the most reliable Treo out of the three.

You must be on Telus' Unlimited* Data. Just like their Unlimited* Text package, that gives 1,000 texts and 10 cents afterwards.

That was such a joke at the time Telus brought that out.

At my office, we recently upgraded all of our Treo 650's to 700w's. The biggest problem we had with the 650, is that it doesn't use exchange activesync. Basically, the way the 650 get's email is to do a wireless sync with our exhange server, as opposed to a push/pull thing with the 700w. What this means is if your 650 is in the middle of an email or calendar sync, and you lose your cell signal, it would screw everything up. The next time you check your email, it tells you that it is corrupt and needs to delete all email and start over. Very annoying.

The 700 does not have this problem because, under the same scenario, activesync will just try again when you have a cell signal.

The only thing I don't like about the 700 is that you have to "reboot" it once a week or so because apps don't ever release the memory they use. We found this is what was causing them to lock up. The Windows mobile application base isn't even close to the amount of palm applications too, which sucks.

Please note that we have our phones sync with our internal exchange server, so all of this may not even be applicable to you.

I must never send or recieve over 1,000 text messages a month. I pay for the unlimited but I am obviously well short of the 1,000 a month mark.

Must be nice to have a IT department to help out with your problems. I have to monkey with mine to try and get it straightened out if I have problems. Most of what you just said went right over my head.
