Nice... Love sinking loooooong putts. You know it was fliuke, but you were the one that swung the club, so it wasn't really fluke.

One day I was playing 21 with a few friends. I was also eating an apple and holding the apple in my teeth when I would shoot.

After a couple of rounds, my buddy jokes that if I'd ditch the apple, maybe I'd sink a few more shots.
I say something to the effect of 'shaddup. I could probably throw the apple core through that far hoop'.
He says 'I'll give you $20 if you do'.

Sure enough, I got it.

Even more surprising, the cheap ba**ard actually pulled out the cash then and there. So I bought us a case of beer and the rest of the day is a fog.

Sweet! It's those little side bets that make the game alot of fun.

Then there's the side of golf one would like to forget. Back in 1996 I got a hole in one on hole #17 at the Douglasdale golf course. My dad happened to be driving into the parking lot and caught me as I was loading up my clubs. I made the mistake of telling him about my feat. Bang! He's on the phone to all his buddies. By the end of the night I ended up witha $200 bar tab. Needless to say I'll keep my trap shut the next time I get one

We've got a cabin on the Shuswap river, right in a little corner where the normally very deep and fast water calms down for a nice swimming hole. One of the favorite activities is to walk upstream a bit and push off into the deeper water and let the river carry you down a ways.

Well I look down and a friend of mine is floating down the river in a panic. Plenty of people have drowned in this river and my immediate instinct was "jesus this could be life or death here". I ran to the shore, got a floating device, and tore off after him ... moments before he managed to swing back into shore before getting too far away. But it's the thought that counts.

I'm known for having a sense of direction, and knowing the city of Calgary rather well. However a few years ago, I took it to another level. I was looking for the house of an acquaintance, and I have never been there. She lived on the same Cul-de-Sac as a mutual friend, but I had only been there once before as well, and I wasn't in the finest state of remembering things when I was there the first time. I left my house, and got there without making a wrong turn, not knowing the street name house number...nothing. On pure instinct. It was satisfying.

Regicide....now if I had thought of that I would've began laughing uncontrollably with thoughts of our own Reg Dunlop meeting his demise (not for real of course, his cp persona!). Regicide...that's a fun word.

Let's see....golf.....

I'm a hack. I love the game. I don't totally suck...but I am a hack. I don't get to play very often...yet. That day is coming. In any case, about 15 years ago I was playing here....

We were on hole #1.....

http://www.riflecreekgolf.com/hole-1.html

I get up and hit my tee shot...right into the sun. Neither my buddy or I saw it. At that time I had a tendency to slice so I began going up the right side looking for the ball. Looked and looked and couldn't find it. Found a few other balls in OB keeping my attention away from the fairway. My buddy hits his ball which we saw land in the fairway and he's over the green just a hair. So, I say screw this out of frustration and decide I'm done with #1 as there were some people getting ready to tee off. I walk up the fairway dead center while my buddy is going around the left side of the green to find his ball. There right on the apron is a ball. No, it can't possibly be mine....

A. I have never hit a golf ball that far in my life
2. I have never hit one that straight with a driver

Sure enough...my ball. I about peed myself. Roughly 300 yard drive right down the middle. Then, I proceeded to 3 putt and ruin my chance for birdie.

Another time, I was 18 I think and my Dad was out of town. I decided to take his Ford Ranger 4X4 'exploring'. I started down this dirt 'road' and was working my way down into a fairly deep ravine. I got to a hairpin and the truck wouldn't fit around it. The elevation dropped significantly right at the turn too and I started sliding....sphincters tightened, sweat began to drip and my heart must've been pounding like never before. Somehow I was able to get it stopped before I went totally over the edge...with the emergency break. I ended up getting out of it with some pretty smart driving tactics that I had never used before (I was NOT an experienced offroad driver) and when I was out of the clear I was pretty impressed with what I had done. I probably wouldn't have died or anything, but that truck would've. I'll have to tell my Dad about that one of these days!

Yeah, my feat is somewhat similar although I used to play golf somewhat regularly. #10 hole at Sylvan Lake is a pretty easy straight forward 325 yard hole. It does bend a bit to the left and they added a mound with some rough, and some additional rough right in front of the green. For me a good drive goes about 285 yards on flat terrain, that has some moisture content. One day we're having a stag there and I'm fairly buzzed, but hit a good drive on number 10. After looking in the fairway for about 10 minutes we get the idea to look up on the green and theres a ball 20 feet from the hole. Don't know how I did it, but I haven't been able to duplicate it since. Of course my eagle put came up like 1 inch short...Still looking to nail that first Eagle to this day.
