Last week in Van, best weather ever, sunny and about 26-27. Not too hot and warm enough to wear shorts and a t-shirt. Vancouver weather is the best, like or not, it's way better than Calgary and being ranked number one in fewest freezing days is proof enough for me. Enjoy wearing winter jackets in April and May, I'll be in jeans and a t-shirt most days.

I think as stated before, its really a matter of preference. To say one place has better weather than the next is purely based on the individuals idea of good weather. However I agree with your statement bout it being sunny and -20 no good for me as its unbearable to be outside anyways. It takes alot more than clouds to put me in a bad mood.
As stated I personally hate cold weather at all and much prefer hot climate. Hence, Vancouver weather is better in my mind. I think when it comes to mild or warm climate, to expect Calgary to have that kind of weather is impossible, as we are in the prairies.
In my view, our climate here is only slightly better than Saskatoon, Regina, Edmonton or Wpg, but just barely. Our winters dont get quite as cold as it does in those places(although not as much as a difference as some in Calgary think it is, as it still is cold here). But those cities have a much better and warmer summer. So its a trade off.
I think Toronto weather is even better than here, as I love the heat in the summer(who cares if its humid, since most have AC in cars and homes), and their winters are just as or more mild than here in Calgary.
As mentioned in a previous posters comments, I love it when its warm at night, unlike Calgary, where it cools down to less than 10 degrees. When I lived in those places where its still warm come sleeptime, i didnt care, as most homes, even apartments have AC. Its prob something the average Calgarian is not accustomed to when we do have a rare night of warmth here, as most dont have AC in the home.
Up until recently I was a regional mgr for a LG Canada(which manufactures a huge percentage of AC units in the world, under other names), in addition to the electronics/phones. Historically speaking, sales of AC units or systems were almost non existent in Calgary or Alberta region, compared to other cities and provinces. It is only now that people in Calgary are starting to purchase AC, so the trend is changing here. There was never a true need for AC too much as it just doesnt get that warm here.
