i don't think anyone ever disliked that movie besides you. seriously.
but what i don't understand is how people can enjoy Kevin Smith movies. People want to talk about how his dialogue is brilliant or whatever, but i just don't see it. And I'm usually the guy that enjoys the hell out of movies that are supposed to be "smart."
p.s. donnie darko is horrible as well

"seriously"? Hard to argue with that.
You may be shocked to hear this, but I am not alone. I know other people that didn't like the movie "Forrest Gump". Sure, they may not be "smart" like you, but they are actual people.
p.s. I cry when I read birthday cards from Hallmark

I agree with that, I have never seen anything worse. Except for maybe house of 1000 corpses, but NOBODY liked that.

The Life of David Gale, I remember someone being really excited when they were telling me about this. Since I think Kevin Spacey is brilliant I rented it, and totally disliked it. It had so many plot devices that weren't necessary at all. Spacey did well in the lead role, but it wasn't very good.

I liked that movie alot actually

Let's see here, what else. Oh, how about Vanilla Sky? I couldn't stand this movie. I was bored with it rather quickly and zoned out halfway inbetween. I watched it with a group of about 5 other people and they all raved about it, I just didn't get it.
|
Booooo! I thought Vanilla Sky was a great movie.
Forrest Gump on the other hand was awful. The sequels (Forrest Hump, Forrest Rump) were way better, although a lot more sexually explicit. [/b][/quote]
Hhaahhaha.
Then you should check out Pornochio, Star Whores, Pump Fiction, or The Penetrator

The one movie I can remember watching and regretting wasting two hours of my life on was Contact. Other than the cool space warp scene I thought that was the most boring movie ever.

I agree with Gosford Park and Contact... ESPECIALLY Contact.
Another movie I didn't like too much was A Beautiful Mind... it just didnt' do it for me.
Also One Hour Photo, I heard from several people that it was scary as hell... afterwards I just kept wondering which parts were supposed to be scary.

Hated Titanic. Didn't like The Matrix or spawn thereof.
Loved Forrest Gump and still do. I'll pull it out several times a year to watch and don't mind even starting in the middle or something.
Sorry, I liked Gosford Park and have seen it a few times as well via the movie channel. But then, I'm a big fan of Hercule Poirot on PBS. And I liked The English Patient. Loved Lost in Translation.
I thought Blood Work, directed and starring Clint Eastwood, was a terrible movie even though it got some good reviews. The Bridges Of Madison County got great reviews but was a snoozer.
Monster's Ball - didn't like it.
The Blair Witch Project - what in hell was the attraction with that?
I rarely go to the theater for these things. The satellite movie channels bring them to me so if I'm not interested . . . . off with their heads in a big hurry!!

I couldn't stand Forest Gump either. I can't really stand Tom Hanks, and don't understand how he always seems to win Best Actor awards. Maybe I just can't the images of him in Bosom Buddies and as Alex's alchoholic uncle out of my head.

Films that have been complained about on this thread which I thought were great: Royal Tannenbaums, Eternal Sunshine, Lost in Translation, Punch Drunk Love. So-so: Gosford Park, Vanilla Sky. Hated: Titanic, Gump.
The worst film I saw all year was Troy. Granted, some critics hated it too, but some loved it. My GF and I were laughing at the dialogue throughout it, much to the annoyance of everyone else around us in the theatre.
For people who hated films like RT, ESotSM, LiT and PDL, don't go see I Heart Huckabees: you'll find it pointless and boring. However, if you liked those other films, Huckabees is very similar and entertaining.

I loved Rushmore, but I wasn't to impressed with the Royal Tenenbaums. Wes Anderson does have The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou coming out soon, which I can't wait to see. It looks great.

I am still wondering when the Academy will re-write history and give Tom Hanks the best actor award for these three fine films.
Big
The 'burbs
Turner and Hootch
Seriously though, Hanks is a fantastic actor. He was great in Philadelpia, Saving Private Ryan, The Green Mile, and a handle of other movies.

I didn't hate that movie, but with the assembled talent it should have been a home run! There's that new one with Bill Murry and Owen Wilson and Wilem Dafoe that looks pretty stellar coming though.
