There's only 1 Gap.

The mall has done a good job attracting bigger name, including some higher end stores in the past 2 years (Zara, Miss Sixty, Marciano, Bose, Abercrombie & Fitch, Hollister, Lacoste, French Connection UK, Urban Outfitters, Bebe, Forever 21, G-Star Raw, H&M, Mardiana Duck, Harry Rosen, Gold's Gym).

When I'm in Edmonchuk, that's where the kids want to go. They want to go to the waterpark or Galaxyland or watch the sea lions. No doubt about it. The Wife wants to go shopping at these stores which make their entry into Alberta via WEM. Me? I'm just fine with my froot of the loom t-shirt. Malls aren't really my thing, but I can understand why for some people WEM is the place to be. Having been there countless times, obviously it's not the same thing for me as someone who goes there for the first time or once a year.

Personally, I'm a bigger fan of South Edmonton Common. Lots of outlets (and being cheap, that's a benefit) IKEA, Best buy, Home depot, NIKE Store, Tommy Hilfiger outlet, Guess outlet, MeXX, Jacob outlet, Aldo Outlet, Buffalo outlet, HMV, La Senza (the wife), Wal Mart Supercenter, Superstore, Cineplex Odeon, London Drugs, Old Navy, Indigo, Stiches, Michaels, etc. over 3.2M square feet. IMO it is not far behind WEM in terms of options for the middle working class. Gets difficult in the winter time though going outside from shop to shop.

As for this mega mall, I've been reading in the paper it's expected to be delayed. Can anyone confirm that?

"Beside them will be 102,000 square metres (1.1 million square feet) of retail space with 18 anchor tenants, more than 180 specialty stores"

Wonder if that's true. I recall reading it was supposed to be much more than 1.1M square feet of retail. 1.1M is nothing then - comparable to Sunridge or Malborough. Hell West Ed is expanding another 300,000 sq. feet next summer.

Hopefully the enterainment options at this mall are top notch - perhaps then the kids and wife will be more willing to go there.

So is there any actual word if this will be an indoor mall or a West Hills type development? Could boost property values in the North East, we could definitely use that!

KevanGuy, Jiri Hrdina and all the cool mods wear it too, and I take my fashion cues from them.

That, and the long sleeves cover my lesions from swimming.

If they put it out there the waiting list for season tickets will get a lot shorter.

If the new rink is part of that complex I think a lot of people will give up their season tickets.

That being said, it's not going to be a part of that complex. They don't even have transit out there and they won't for a hell of a long time.

I've heard of the Supermall going up. I hate malls and I dont really want an outrageously big one going up here. Its in Balzac and as far as I know they have been digging the foundation, concrete has been poured and yes, the water issue is holding things up. I hope it gets cancelled or downsized something fierce.

Locke.

On a related note, if there is a horse-racing facility outside the city, what happens to the track at the Stampede? I don't think (although I don't know) that it gets much use as is. If the horse races move out there, is the grandstand and the track a big whack of real estate that only gets used 10 days a year?
