Sharon has killed two to three times the amount of children at least that Arafat has "killed." He was fighting for the freedom of his people the only way he could. While I agree his methods were wrong and horrible it is nothing in comparison to the attrocities he has seen committed against his people during his life.

Though some may agree with that statement if it was made in the '70's or '80's, but Since Oslo has had ample opportunity to achive freedom for his people without financing and condoning terror. He could have declared a state in 2000 but felt (according to Clinton & Ross) that he could never give up the right of return or formally end the conflict. He resorted to the only thing he knows - violence.

Some of those attrocities were committed by him and Fatah- lynchings, theft, hording of supplies.
We could sit here all day trading "attrocities" - bottom line is the man never gave up terrorism as the means to get what he wanted, so instead of being the peacemaker and state builder he ends up watching as Israel unilateraly disengages.
