Sharon has killed two to three times the amount of children at least that Arafat has "killed." He was fighting for the freedom of his people the only way he could. While I agree his methods were wrong and horrible it is nothing in comparison to the attrocities he has seen committed against his people during his life.

Though some may agree with that statement if it was made in the '70's or '80's, but Since Oslo has had ample opportunity to achive freedom for his people without financing and condoning terror. He could have declared a state in 2000 but felt (according to Clinton & Ross) that he could never give up the right of return or formally end the conflict. He resorted to the only thing he knows - violence.

Some of those attrocities were committed by him and Fatah- lynchings, theft, hording of supplies.

We could sit here all day trading "attrocities" - bottom line is the man never gave up terrorism as the means to get what he wanted, so instead of being the peacemaker and state builder he ends up watching as Israel unilateraly disengages.

Since when is encouraging children to blow themselves up to become "immortalized in the eyes of Allah" the only method of trying to acheive peace in the middle east?

Its not. Period.

Well, its nice to see that the usual suspects agree with Sean Hannity. I think his words were, "Good, one down, another billion to go. What can we do to help this along?"

Arrafat is an interesting character, one that has been key in the Middle East turning into what it is. Right or wrong he will be judged more by how things turn out in the long run and his contribution to the final out come. Louis Riel was once considered a terrorist. Consider the place he now holds in Canadian history. I suspect Arrafat will end up in the same manner.

I can't agree with you on Arafat at all Lanny.

He was a murderer plain and simple. He was a two faced coniving liar who had little if anything to do with the peace process. He'd agree to do something and never carry through. He was so paranoid of losing his spot in power that he chased out the first Moderate leader that wanted to move the peace process forward.

He took money from his own poor and starving people and stashed it away in swiss back accout.

He's a scumbag plain and simple, and he should be buried face down at a cross roads so he can't rise from the dead.

When he orders the Israeli tanks and helicopters to bomb Palestinian settlements and fire on unarmed or serverly underarmed Palestinians.

Of course that fact that terrorist planners and leaders (with armed gaurds) and snipers and those that aim mortars at schools HIDE AMONGST children and the elderly has nothing to do with it.

Israel WARNS the population when they are about to fire on a building. When a terrorist gets into his car is the time when Israel fires without warning.

In Israel's case innocent bystanders are unfortunately hurt, in the Palestinian case innocent bystanders are the target.
