Can someone tell me what the battery life of an Ipod is?

Apparently the new iPhoto one has a battery life of 15 up to hours.
The regular iPods are 12 hours, and the mini is 8 hours.

Did a quick search, and found that there is a group (rather large) of people developing an OS X clone that runs (sort of) on x86 chips.
It is called Darwin, and is somewhat supported by Apple:
opendarwin.org site
I also read this in the in readme.txt file:
Known Issues
============
* IDE drives may not work on x86. Try it, if it doesn't work, it's a
known problem.
* The booter wont automatically use the OpenDarwin disk as the root disk. You have to
pass the "rd=" parameter to the kernel. On a lot of installs the parameter to be passed
is: rd=disk0s1
However this depends on your local setup. Once booted you can hardwire this kernel argument
in the file: /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist
* Video cards must support VESA 2.0 framebuffer modes on x86.
Try it, if your console looks weird, or doesn't appear, it's a
known problem.
Might be something I would be willing to try when I get some time. Looks like an interesting project. I would love to run OS X on x86.

Interesting, I thought they would be a lot less. Well, there goes my only excuse for not getting one, besides the cost that is.
Are they solid state memory then? Or is it like a typical laptop style hard drive? I'd imagine solid state if the battery life is that high.

No, I believe it's still a disk drive, with 32 MB (might be 64 in new versions) of solid-state memory.

The older versions had less, I think it used to be as low as six or eight hours. 12 hours is for the latest generation.
I think you can get replacement batteries for older ones that have a higher mAh rating for longer life too.
EDIT: And yeah, oct is right they're all hard drive based still. If you've never seen an iPod mini go to FS or something and check it out, it's pretty amazing.
