Just out of curiosity - are you thinking that everybody should be an expert electrician, plumber, carpenter, car mechanic, software engineer, etc? That would be a very inefficient society me-thinks!!

And you know why? It's because this is a total 'Me' society. At work, I'm the only one on shift. And yet some idiot decides that no, he can not wait an extra few minutes so that I can finish with one customer and then help him. So he bitches me out in my $9/hr job. Dude! The hell do you want me to do?! Ignore the other customer to help you? Hmpff.

People who park to close to others in parking lots. Came out the grocery store this afternoon and found a nice scratch mark on my drivers door that took off some paint. It's a good thing I didn't catch this person in action.

It's much the same on the Deerfoot. You have drivers weaving in and out of traffic and taking chances that could result in an accident.

Then there's the Calgary drivers who are always in a hurry to get somewhere fast.

Of course not, that's not realistic. I was just speaking in general terms, but I think that if we all took a little more responsibility for our selves and our own actions, we'd be better off for it.

About driving.

I hate construction zones where there's a massive sign that says "RIGHT LANE CLOSED AHEAD" like 1km before the lane actually closes. The other lane will be completely backed up because of all the people that are being funneled in, but some jackass will actually go in the right lane, cut in front of at least 10-15 cars, and turn their signal lights on as if they were saying "OOPS, I didn't know this lane was going to close!!" . YOU! You can wait in line like everyone else. I will absolutely risk my car getting hit by people that try to force their way in on me when this happens.

On roads that have really long merge lanes (Beddington Trail onto Deerfoot south) there are tons of cars who will merge far far far before the dotted line. you too. For the people that follow the rules, this is so dangerous. You don't see a car, so you hit the dotted line and change lanes, but lo and behold, some jackass behind you decided that he better cut out and accelerate to 140 km/h!

If traffic is flowing, merging should happen. Regarding the first half of your post, the people in the right lane should all be going all the way to where the lane cuts out before merging (assuming that its bumper to bumper). Any idiot that switches lanes early and then gripes about the guy that goes all the way to the end can kiss my arse. I'm that guy that goes allllll the way to the end then forces my way in. I'm also the guy that rewards other people that do that by letting them in with a wave, not a one finger salute.

See if they were in the right lane in the first place that would be fine. You have to merge and stuff which is okay. But what about the people already in the left lane, and doing this exact thing JUST to get ahead? They're hella not thinking about merging, they're thinking "I need to jump ahead 15 cars". Ummm...no thanks.

Another example would be the following: Say you need to make a left turn but the left turn lane is backed up far past the left turn lane on a 2 lane + left turn lane road. Thus, one of the lanes is ridiculously packed with people that are trying to go straight as well as making a left turn. Now, I'm talking about the people that'll go out to the right lane, cut back in to where the left lane, then turn their signal lights on and hope someone will let them into the left turn lane.
