Alcoholism- Disease or Disorder?

Waking up on a hospital with your clothes all bloody and having no memory what got you in that state makes you think about quitting drinking for good. It is really scary to think that I could be dead now and only because i had to drink few too many tequilas.

What is important is that it is a genuine addiction and addictions are genuine physiological and neurological afflictions that some people can not "wish away" with will power and should not be taken lightly or insulted as such.

Personally, my biology does not allow me to drink since I have a defective enzyme that doesn't allow me to process alcohol like most of you...but I think I have had my fair share of addictive behavior and neurosis and it's not a pretty picture.

I have a relative thats an alcoholic and its not a great thing to have to deal with.
having said that, my biology doesnt allow me to drink anymore either, although not an enzyme, I have a defective pancreas that wont process alcohol.
I was never a big drinker, but it sure takes out the fun in an all inclusive vacation
