Btw I got my Econ degree in 2005. Which one are you up for?

I'd have to second the biology suggestion. Back in the day at the University of Windsor, I was in the same situation (Fine Art major, but needed a science option) and took what sounds like an almost identical course. I got an A, which, for me, is the eqivilent to winning the Stanley Cup.

Will Holden IS a headache. I wonder if he still does his Robocop impression, brags about his friend Kevin Miner and trashes Canuck fans...
Easy 300-level course is Geog 329 - Environmental Land +Resource Management (I think).... with Holden. Final isnt too easy, but the rest of the class is a cinch.

Yup, I would second the basic bio courses...I took a couple (for the non-science major type of thing). I think one - maybe it was 307 or something was not too bad. A bit smaller class, and the prof did take attendance (ha) but it was pretty easy if I remember correctly. Had to do with plants or something. And everyone in it was in it for the same reason (i.e.. needing a science or filler course).
Sociology ones are pretty good, there are some pretty cushy ones too. Although like someone said you usually need the basic socio prereq. I took a deviance course which was pretty interesting, and just had 2 MC exams. Can't complain. (although I am in the people professions, so...).
IT depends what you are interested in, though, at the end of it. This was a looooonnnngggg time ago (eek! likely 7-8 years ago already!), but I remember taking an ok anthropology course that was kind of interesting and not too hard. However, if you aren't interested in that type of thing I wouldn't recommend it....
Cheers.

I just did two summer 300 level options, and I'm writing my final for one on Friday... so I probably can't comment on it completely yet although so far its been pretty simple. That would be POLI 343.. Canadian Judicial System.
But seriously... the easiest class I've ever had was this ANTH 303, Culture in the Business context. Holy crap.
If you are looking for handout A's.... not that I recommend you take classes based on ease.
Personally I'd rather take a more challenging class that is interesting then garbage that is easy. But maybe thats just me. What are you interested in?

You can take Psychology and Sociology classes. They are usually easy and loaded with fairly good looking girls.
Disclaimer: Fair amount of reading involved.

Are those the Science Technology and Society courses? If so I thought those were interesting...not a bad choice especially if you like technology

I agree with this. I don't know if for an option/filler course you want to put yourself through the ringer, but at the same time....I Would suggest finding a course or 2 in a field that oyu find interesting. Or if you have always wanted to learn about _____ (you fill in the blank), then go for it, here is your chance...

Is that HTST 381 with Chastko? I took that in the Winter semester last year with CaramonLS, one of my favourite courses. Definitely not a bird course, as there was quite a bit of reading and writing required.

I had an English course back at Western called Science Fiction and Fantasy. We read Lord of the Rings and watched Star Trek episodes.

In my experience the easiest classes have been the ones I'm most interested in and therefore most motivated to attend, read the material and do the assignments. For example this past year (my first year) I took a course called Economics and Gov't which was all theory about why private markets fail for certain cases like education and insurance. Fascinating course, great prof and thus I got an A+. Other courses that didn't interest me as much I had a much harder time doing. My 2nd favourite last year was Intro to Existentialism, a 200 level phil course.
I'd highly recommend trying to find something that interests you or will broaden your perspective over looking for the "easy" class. If you're gonna waste several months on it, it might as well be something useful to you or something that helps you develop interests in other areas. Also something to factor in to try and take a course where the prof is an expert on the material and is personally interested in it, that makes the course a lot better.

Hmm I don't think so. I took a course called History of the Age of Totalitarianism and I believe it was HTST 333- it was taught by Chastko as well. It wasn't that bad, in terms of difficulty.
He's a wicked prof though.

He's a great prof. It wasn't a difficult class, I mean the subject matter is so interesting you're captivated the entire time, but it was a lot of work for an option.

Yea, they were okay. Very easy if you just show up to class and read/skim the readings. I am terrible at essays though, so I suffered a lot trying to write up the major essay to hand in at the end

I took two Music History courses that were fairly simple, but also a lot of fun. They change up the topics every semester, but I did one on U2 and another on Music from the 80s.
