Completely off topic here....

I'm not a cat lover. I almost died a couple times as a youngster because I was too close for too long. Allergic.

The othey day I stepped up on this porch and nearly squashed a kitten. Not sure how old they were, pretty young. Anyway, there were 4 or 5 of the little buggers there all looking up at me. Very cute and they made me wish that I wasn't allergic to them. I was REALLY glad I didn't squash one.

Then a couple hours later I stepped up on another porch...the door to the house was open...and I was reminded why (besides them trying to kill me :P ) I don't like cats. They smell so bad. I guess a lot of that has to do with the owners, but there aren't many odors that are more repuslive to me personally than dirty cat stench. Ick.

Granted dogs when not looked after and cleaned up after can be pretty rank too...but that doesn't get me as badly as cat stench.

Now, back to your regularly scheduled evil kitty thread.

If the nails are clipped every couple weeks, the scratching stops...at least thats what happened with ours...they were scratching because the longer nails were bugging them and trying to file them down/"clip" them themselves.

And I can say after 5 years with 2 cats and 5 weeks with one doggy, that the smell are pretty much equal, however the cats' litterbox has to be changed a lot less frequently then the 3 times I day one has to scoop up dog poop.

Jeez, I don't even know what my cat smells like. She has never been aromatic.

It's probably one of those things that non-cat owners notice. I have never owned a cat, but I can always tell whether or not a house has a cat or not by the smell.

The smelliest part of cats are their litter. That's why they are less than ideal apartment pets. If you have a house though and can stash that nasty business deep in the basement than I think it has a dramatic impact on the amount of "cat odor" your house has.

Yeah that's it. I can smell catstink in a house before I even get my shoes off. They are certainly Satan's minions but they seem to like me (maybe I'm Satan)? so they are always hopping up onto me and acting as though I don't hate them. Then my pupils start to bleed and my skin gets all itchified due to allergies and I either get kicked out of the house or the cats get locked in the bedroom.

That's funny... I'm allergic too, but when I go over to a cat owners house, there is no way I can get them to lock the cat up. It's either I leave, or put up with it. They go off on me like the cat is their first born son.
