Locked in the Trunk... was actually a song that grew out of their live shows...I remember hearing Downie break into that song in an interlude of New Orleans (I think it was) during the Road Apples tour , and then a few years later I was happy to see it on its own right on an album

I believe that was Highway Girl, the whole double suicide foolery live version ("That's my story, and I'm sticking to it")... although he may have also used it during New Orleans is Sinking.
great point Marc! it was also done in live Highway girl....good call
The Killer Whale Tank version of New Orleans is awesome too. Same idea with the rambling storytelling in the middle of the song.

I am a fair sized Hip fan, but have never seen them in concert...maybe I will go this year. Didn't hear that they were coming.

Their new disc is really growing on me, have a few more listens, Kevan.

The new disc I loved instantly. In Violet Light took me a couple listens, but In Between Evolution is a great record. Gus, and Vaccination Scar are classic hip songs.
I whole-heartedly agree.

Was not huge into Music @ Work and In Violet Light....however, the new cd is great. I don't exactly why, or what it is, but I really quite good.

The leadoff song is quite good....written for Dan Synder, right?
I think the new CD is very good. I never heard much of the last CD, so I can't comment on that. This may be heresy, but I think the early CDs are over-rated, and the recent CDs are under-rated. They seem to me to be better musicians and song-writers now. That, and the fact that the older material is ruined for me given the amount of over-play on Canadian radio.

WTF? They didn't play "Fire in the Hole" yesterday... that would have been awesome! Maybe cut at the last minute.
